With the current situation in the WWE I am beginning to think that there may be something wrong with Vince McMahon. I don't mean it in a disrespectful way but surely if the man is the genius many say he is he would see the WWE product is declining and losing fans like never before.
He must think in the back of his mind that the creative process is not the best. He's been in some of the company's most dynamic angles in history so when he see's today's stuff it must infuriate him.
I wonder if he may be starting to suffer from the concessions etc and maybe even suffering mental health issues which I hope isn't the case but with what he's been through it wouldn't be surprising at all.

Definitely. But he'd never admit it. Still hilarious he told Austin he wasn't out-of-touch. LOL, ok.

He might be slipping a bit, but I think his "genius" has been vastly overstated. He's been running the company for 35 or so years and outside of hot period in the late 80s and a hot period in the late 90s, his booking decisions have always included a lot of head scratchers.

He wanted to have a storyline where he had sex with his daughter.
Let me say that again for those in the back.
HE WANTED TO HAVE A STORYLINE WHERE HE HAD SEX WITH HIS DAUGHTER!

The guy is scared of letting go and I understand why but the company is a mess and I can't see it getting better with him in the role he is in now. Hunter although has a lot of doubters has a vision and I get the feelin could be the best thing to happen in the WWE if he ever gets the top job in place of Vince.
He was the brains behind the performance centre and deserves credit for that as I don't think that Vince had ever thought of anything like that until HHH brought it to his attention. Triple H also knows what talent is getting over unlike Vince who is stuck in the dark ages, I remember on Austin's podcast he said that Cesaro was not connecting with the fans when you see Cesaro having his own section of fans on nearly every show. He was the same with Christian when the guy was one of the most popular guys on the roster.
Then you have the current situation with Roman Reigns when he seems hell bent on forcing him down the fans throats despite the negative reactions he gets every time he shows his face. Surely after a while he must think it's maybe time to try something different.

There's a lot of "Things won't get better when Trips takes over", especially here on FAN, but I strongly disagree. If for nothing else, he's far younger. Vince is a 70 year old in charge of an entertainment medium. Unless you're Clint Eastwood, that's baffling.

I wonder if he may be starting to suffer from the concessions Look man, we all know the product sucks and that Vince has lost his edge, but to blame this on the hot dog guy is WAY out of line.

I actually think he is fully aware of what he is doing. I think he is experimenting to see if buy-rates, ticket sales and viewing figures are affected by having an absent champion, a joke champion and a top babyface who is hated by the majority.
That is my conspiracy theory anyway!

Vince never seemed to have head screwed on straight if you ask me.
Pretty much everything that really made WWE seem relevant were things that Vince just stumbled ass-backwards into and didn't completely mess it up.
The majority of stuff that Vince tried to build from the ground up have always seemed like something that should end with a pan out to reveal Vince shaking a snowglobe.

Vince has always had a great business mind and to some extent he was involved with creative, as the "head of creative". I believe in the 80s and 90s, he really let the talent and other minds like Pritchard, Patterson and others have a lot of say in things. I always felt Vince had an end game, but let other minds help get there. Hell, Hunter and Shawn were able to convince him to go in a more edgy direction leading to the Attitude Era. I did touch on this in a thread where I said the problem with WWE now is Vince doesn't have Pat, or maybe the real problem is Vince doesn't trust someone like he trusted Pat in helping book and get people over. It seems as of late Vince is micromanaging more than ever and when someone else succeeds doing something different it hurts his pride and he has to "regain control". Let's remember Vince's father seemed to lose it in the later years as well going with Backlund as his guy, when many others including Eddie Graham told him it would never work. Vince seems to be the same way with Reigns. Although unlike Backlund, Reigns does have the "it" factor, his booking is killing him.

Vince turns 72 next month. There is no 72 year old person in the world that can single handedly write a television show that appeals to an audience that is mostly between 10 and 40 years old. He's been around so long and had so much success that when push comes to shove he trusts himself more than anyone else.
Another reason is that Vince has to be in charge because of the stock price of the company. If Vince steps down and HHH or Steph or whoever takes over then the stock price is going to plummet initially. Vince has been painted as a genius for so long that when he steps down or dies that stock is going to take a huge hit. And as a public company will the shareholders be cool with HHH and Steph taking over, even though he has no real track record as a business man or will they push for a more proven business man?
Part of me feels like Shane went away and did his own thing for a while so he could come back with the business experience to take over the company when Vince finally does give it up or dies. In fact when Shane came back I thought it was because Vince was sick and Shane was coming back to run the company. I think Steph and HHH will handle the creative side and Shane will be more like Linda with the actual business side of the company.

Vince seems to be the same way with Reigns. Although unlike Backlund, Reigns does have the "it" factor, his booking is killing him. But Backlund *did* work, so VJM knew what he was doing in the end. The thing about Vince is that while he's amazingly talented in the corporate world, he's never - ever - had any been great, or even adequate, at the creative/booking side of the business. He's always had the good grace to hire competent people to surround him in that regard. Whether it was George Scott or Pat Patterson or, god help me, Russo, Vince always surrounded himself with a group who could handle that side for him, while he would be the final okay on their plans or give them a base outline of where he wanted something to go, and leave them to do it. So what's changed? Pretty simple, actually. We all know how Vince went into a "no one can be bigger than the company" mentality after losing Rock and Austin, and how he's done everything he could to keep burgeoning situations contained to keep "his vision" (and so they wouldn't bolt for greener pastures soon as they could)? Similar situation in the creative department. He no longer surrounds himself with competent people because he no longer trusts those types. Patterson "betrayed" him by faulting HHH's gratuitous screen time as a reason they were hurting, and we all know the bruhaha that occurred with Russo's departure and the circus that whole thing has become in the following years. He doesn't want that anymore. He wants nameless people who won't place the blame on the McMahon family nor use their position to turn it into something bigger/better.

But it was Eddie Graham's suggestion that Senior take Backlund.

Definitely agree with the "no one can be bigger than the company", although oddly enough Brock Lesnar is one of their champions. Was not aware of Patterson faulting HHH's screen time as hurting the company, but it definitely seems like types like him are no longer there and being replaced by television people and "yes" men that won't rock the boat.
