Conversely, I met Tom Hardy at a film premiere and he was great. Stopped to take photos with fans and spoke to reporters and people who'd turned up for ages while his people were trying to get him inside.

Depending on the day, Bill Murray is said to be a miserable dick. Can't remember where I heard it, but someone once described him as "a whimsical delight to be friends with, a demanding chore to work with."

Do people stop to consider that perhaps these celebrities are "jerks" because they likely have people stalking them at all hours? They've got fans and the paparazzi after them 24/7. It has to get to them. I totally understand if they feel stressed enough to where they come off as jerks. That wouldnt excuse being a jerk while on set. Where they are far from fans, and working with a director.

Justin Bieber, spitting on your fans for a laugh is disgraceful.

I've met 200-300 celebrities, the worst by far is somebody is hardly a celebrity, but a contestant from Big Brother called Daniel Bryan (no relation to the Smackdown GM), he is a celebrity in his own mind though. As for celebs with bad reputations - Katherine Heigl, Shannen Doherty, Linda Fiorentino, Mike Myers Mike Myers rep took a hit when he killed all of those teenagers.

Not sure what his reputation is, but I met Jared Leto once and he was a pretentious, self-important douche. Just an awful person.

Justin Bieber, spitting on your fans for a laugh is disgraceful. Pissing in somebody's mop bucket is downright disgusting, and shows no respect to the people that are working.

Anyone heard about Mel Gibson? Rumor is he has a bit of a temper. I guess when he's on his high horse or coked out. By some accounts, a gentleman during filming. He used to stand in queue for lunch in catering with extras and the crew during Braveheart filming, sat on the benches with them to banter and at no point played the star card.

Remember that Simpsons episode? By all accounts, at one point Mel Gibson was the most loved guy in Hollywood. Like an R-rated Tom Hanks. A lot of people do still like him.

Robert Downey Jr has gone to bat for him numerous times, and has said Gibson was always there for him during his drug issues. And you read about Wynona Ryder's story about him (best you Google it rather have it be posted here) and you're left wondering what in the hell is going on with him.

I've heard Chevy Chase isn't the nicest guy This is the first person I thought of when I read the title of this thread. Allen Funt has stayed at a hotel I used to work at and he was a jerk to everybody. Nancy Kerrigan came across as a spoiled little princess. Elrod Hendricks was signing autographs at an Orioles game when I meet him and he did not come across as very friendly which is strange because every video I have seen of him playing and being interviewed he always had a smile on his face.

HHH was a huge jerk every time I tried to meet him. Just about every other wrestler has been extremely nice when I have encountered them in public.

See? I would have the mindset of Mike Jackson if I were famous. I would be grateful that people enjoy my work. It takes two seconds to take a picture or sign your name. I also understand celebrities are busy, rushed, hounded, etc. But if I couldn't accomodate fans or requests, I would try to make it up to them. I would say I am in town for a few days, tweet out places fans can meet me, and so on. I get having bad days, but being a raging asshole is unnecessary. Just the people pleaser in me, I guess. You THINK you would have that mindset. But when it comes time to actually HAVE it....it becomes a different thing. Let me just say that I am by no means a celebrity. But I have achieved a fair level of regional, and to a MUCH lesser extent, national recognition. In my hometowns, I get recognized a few times a week. When it first started, it was kinda cool. Makes you feel good to know that you are making an impression on people, or at least are memorable. But then the novelty wears off, and while most of the time I'm ok with being recognized still, I would really rather people just leave me alone. And let me just say that it is in NO WAY a rockstar move or any goofy bullshit like that. The truth is that I am actually a very shy person with a great amount of social anxiety and a general awkwardness, which is pretty much the polar opposite of who I am on stage. I suck at small talk, and I don't feel a connection to these people when I'm just being me. For me, my time on stage IS my connection to these people. For those 45-90 minutes, I am one with those people. I connect with them through this shared love of music, through the emotions of the songs. We are all there because we identify with whatever I am saying. That is our bond, and it means everything to me. But once I come off stage, that's over. It's like a really passionate one night stand: We were together for those brief moments of true connection, but it's over now, and we both have to move on. Plus, I'm tired, sweaty, sore, thirsty, and really just need time to collect myself. The last thing I want to do is have a bunch of people in my face. I've often wondered: Why do we think it's ok to bother someone just because we've seen their face before, or heard their voice? Like, how would you react if people started clamoring up to you the second you walk out after a hard days work, thrusting cameras in your face and wanting you to write your name over and over? If someone did this to the mailman, everyone would say they were insane. But doing it to someone because they entertained you once is not only considered normal, but the person being harassed is considered an asshole if they tell you to f*** off because they are just trying to live their life. In the end, it's all just a job. Whether you are an actor or a mailman or a singer or work on a gas station. They are all just jobs. As Humphrey Bogart once said, "The only thing I owe my public is a good performance." And it's true.
