New design is way better.
The original bull was cool in the same way that tribal bands are cool (glad he finally got out of the 90's) - the level of artistry and shading on the new one is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
It also flows better with the shape of his arm - the original bull tattoo was way too small for the size of the space. He could have just touched it up and added more stuff around it, but bigger pieces are better suited for a guy his size.
But yeah - that original bull looked like it was done in his cousin's garage or something.
Also - with his skin tone, black&grey makes a lot more sense than that stupid blue color he had originally. Man, the more I think about the original tattoo the more I just....ugh.

The last one had character. This is just an overly-complicated sketch. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a dinosaur or beef. Lmao Took me a while to discover what I was looking at lol.

That's not an evolution, it's a coverup, and not a very good one. Don't get me wrong, from what I can tell, the lining and shading is nice, it's just an ugly design, a bad coverup, and takes away an iconic piece of what made him the Rock.

To elaborate on my Yikes..the detail is well done, just, eh it's a steer skull. The concept I'm more blah on than the execution.

The new one is probably objectively better in about every aspect; but it feels like destroying a legendary landmark and replacing it with a flashy casino based on it.

I like it. Probably look better once it's fully healed too. Plus, as iconic as that bull tattoo may have been in the wrestling world, it's a faded as all f*** tattoo that a dude got 25 years ago. Tattoo quality has improved greatly since then, can't fault him at all for wanting to update

Eh his body, his decision. I'm sad the tattoo of my childhood is gone but honestly I do appreciate the level of detail and overall look of his new one.

That looks awful, but I have a toad in a top hat on my arm so what do I know?
Disclaimer: good artistry on Rock's new one, not disputing that, just personally not a fan.

I have no problem with him covering up an old tat, but...uh, tattoo artist guy...you missed.

Am I the only one who knows the fact that the old tatoo still showing was intentional?

Doesn't make me think this tattoo is any better.

The detail, shading, and artistry is great no doubt but it's still a bad tattoo. Sometimes less is indeed more. It's like one of those over indulgent movies that would be better if it was 15-20 min shorter and had a clearer focus. Or one of those progressive bands that go on a impressive complex guitar solos for at least 5 mins in every song to cover up the fact they don't really have much of substance.
Like his original tattoo was pretty bad and amateurish. But at least you knew what it was and you can market the entire image as your own brand.

New one is better in every way except iconography. But, really, if this makes him happier and feels more in line with who he is today then good on him.
