Get your money back, make sure you tell his wife, not him, that you'd like to not see them again.

I'm ashamed to say that I'm related to some of these parasites. My cousin has mooched off my aunt and another of my cousins for quite a few years. She says she's moving every few months and never does, borrows money and never pays it back, bilks the system for all it's worth, finds ways of getting out of paying rent, moves in whoever she wants without even asking, and to top it all off, she's a completely hateful person. One of her kids is basically her younger clone at this point.
It's gotten to the point where my aunt is behind on her bills and my other cousin had her car repo'd, all thanks to this completely useless person.
Last I saw, both these parasites have multiple GoFundMes up, flat-out lying on them to try to get people to donate. Just pisses me off.

Eh, I gave a dude in the Army $100, so he can file for divorce. He was desperate, so he offered to sell his Sega Saturn, new in box. I gave him $100 for it. Eh, we started in Basic together, so I gave him a pass on that.
Still have it to this day. I rarely play it.
(Note to you young guys joining the service. Don't marry a girl before joining thinking you're keeping her. It rarely works.)

Unfortunately, not in a position to be able to. We tend not to ask anyone either, due to not knowing if/when we'd be able to pay it back. My dad does help out when we're really desperate, so that helps.
I figure if we're ever in a position where we can lend money if it's needed, my dad may be the only person I'd help out because I owe him anyway.

My gf at the time needed car repairs. She didn't have the money and freaked out over it for several days. Her friend told her that God would provide what was needed. I finally relented and paid her 660 dollar bill. I later asked if she could make 20 dollars payments at each payday and she said she couldn't afford it. I got f***ed.
The next gf borrowed money constantly. She held it against me when I kept track. Then she decided she wasn't going to pay rent for living at my house, so she got to live for free for a few years before I sent her packing.

I once loaned something like $60 to $80 to a regular customer where I used to work. Said he needed it for medicine for his kids. Yeah. I fell for that.
I kept seeing him coming in buying liquor and I was the one who even checked him out but when I asked about the money he claimed he would pay me back next time. Eventually I just told him to forget about it because I'd rather not get the money back than hear him lie about it over and over again.

I'm pretty leery on lending anyone money unless it's my parents. One time in particular I gave this friend of mine twenty dollars for food, not even a week later she's asking me for another twenty dollars. Something didn't seem right at all with her so I told her I was broke. Another person kept messaging me on Facebook asking for gas money, food money, and it was consistently too and I just kept giving her the same answer "I am broke. Spent all of my money on bills."
With that said I am pretty frugal with my money, however, if I will say if some random stranger asks me for money and I see them struggling I'll typically give them about ten dollars. Even if they're trying to get a high, I look at it like this "If I am ever down and out, I'd like someone to show me the same compassion at least.".

You'd have me committed if you knew the number, which I don't even know, it would make you sick. I have a loose ball park idea.

My mom was looked at as a bank by a lot of members of my family very rarely getting any money back she'd do without to help other people out. When I started working she got me involved bailing family members out because she couldn't afford to keep doing it for everyone even though she still would and I would do anything for my mom and even though I told her it was a bad idea I did it anyway because it made her happy.I don't know how much I've given over the years cause I don't like to think about it but easily over $20,000 in the last decade alone.Over the last few years my mom had a lot of health issues and ran into some financial issues and I'm the only one that helped her out and a few family members still tried to get money off her that finally smartened her up.When my mom passed last year I stopped giving people money but even after giving them thousands of dollars over the years I'm looked at as a horrible person because I'm cutting them off now and I'm okay with that because I still only hear from them when they need money and I like my money and I want to keep it this time.

My mom has vary loose grasp on how money works. Especially when it comes to barrowing and lending money. This woman says barrow when she really means give because she rarely pay people back. Mom also rarely pays people back in full. Id you ask her were your money is at, she think paying bills is excuses her from paying what she owes. Mom also thinks that if she owes you and you get money from something else that she doesn't owe you anymore. Last, but not least, she thinks she's good with money.

My wife, my mom, the 3 guys I am in bands with, and 1 other friend are the only people who get money out of me. And for those 6 people, it's never a loan. They are all so close to me and have treated me so well for so long that if I have it, THEY have it.
Beyond that? You ain't getting f***-all out of me.

Sadly, yes. Guy who used to work in my department asked for twenty for beer, promising he'd pay me back double. I had to wait several months for one of my managers to force him to give me my twenty back.
Turns out the guy had a major addiction to prescription opioids and actually stole a co-worker's badge in order to buy gift cards with her future paychecks so he could trade them for more drugs. Needless to say, they canned his ass for that.
