Loaned a friend a few hundred to pay her rent one time. She never paid me back. Only time I ever mentioned it was when she blew her chance to win Survivor. But I was just joking around.
Another friend I forced to borrow money to finish school. I told him I would never bug him about it, he could pay me back whenever he could. I had to go back on that once because I was in some tough times and he paid me a quarter of it. Since then nothing. But he had to put up with a bunch of my shit for years so I dont worry about it.
Both times I lent the money with the expectation that it was a gift. If I ever get paid back great, if not who cares.

Kind of. I was coerced into giving someone money under the pretense that it was a loan, and that he'd pay me back. I didn't want to give him the money, but I was alone in the middle of the night, and he would not leave me alone. Since he was presumably going to pay me back (and because I suspected he was high and didn't fully know what he was doing), I had him write an I.O.U. note and sign it.
I researched his name on the internet. Sure enough, I found a photo of his mugshot from local a newspaper article indicating that he was wanted for a series of liquor store robberies.
The guy also gave me his phone number. The cops could easily subpoena the phone company to track where he is, but they haven't done shit and are instead using traffic cameras to screw drivers into paying bogus traffic violation tickets.

Some Canadian douche coworker who I knew for a few weeks took me to a few bars buying me drinks and then asked me to lend him £300 in the casino while we were blind drunk. We both went to the bank and he wrote the cheque and said he would pay me back. He left his job that weekend and the cheque bounched and then he asked me if borrow more money on a text message but I didn't know his whereabouts so I couldn't do anything.

I hate to bump this thread but I got all my money back. I also told that duplicitous bastard I don't want to ever see him otherwise I'll most likely punch him in the face. Good to hear you got your money. Now you never have to deal with him again.
