So they're called smarts because they are supposedly smart to how the business works, but there's a lot of times I go...really?
For example, i've seen on forums people saying that Mr Perfect should have eliminated Hulk Hogan and won Royal Rumble in 1991. C'mon. They're thinking like the TV/PPV schedule is the 21st century. Maybe the top face now a days like Cena can afford to lose a rumble to a heel, but he's got every monday night til the next PPV which is only 3 weeks away to redeem himself. Hogan appeared on TV once in a blue moon, so had to look super strong on every outing otherwise he wouldnt be the money making machine he was.
Also people saying Diabise should have won the title at Wrestlemania 4. Yeah a PPV back in them days ending with a heel on top. Maybe in other feds but not kid friendly wwf.

The only thing that really kinda bugs me is when people say someone (like Nikki Bella, for instance) isn't over just because they don't like them.

The thing that makes me most uncomfortable is the sexism when people scoff at a wrestler that's "only popular with women," as if that isn't a legit group of wrestling fans that pay money and watch the show, too.

When a re-write of history is attempted to suit their own point; oh, Del Rio wasn't over as a heel or as a face.
Well, yes, he was, actually.

Oooh yeah thats a big one for me. "Oh he's popular but with women and kids" Like Girls and kids don't count for some reason.

Personally for me, I see someone being popular with women as perfectly fine, whatever, and by all means I'd like to see more women wrestling fans, but on a personal level, if I dislike someone I don't give a shit if they're popular with women, I still want them to f*** off. Which really is just one part of how I've said before, I readily and openly admit I only care what the crowd thinks when they agree with me. I don't watch for other people's enjoyment.

When people say that wrestling will be popular again because the business runs in cycles. I think I remember someone saying that in a shoot interview trying to sound smart and people just accepted it as fact but it's such a load of horseshit.

I can agree on this one, though the mirror of it also drives me up the wall. If someone is over with the guys, but not with the women and kids, then "oh, they're not over, because casuals...", but if they're over with the kids and women, then it's what you said. Sadly, I don't see many who can get EVERYBODY behind them around much anymore, and I think that should be the ultimate goal.

I vaguely remember someone saying years ago back when Chris Benoit was an internet favorite that he should turn heel and end the Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania via DQ.

Mostly that nearly every guy you remember from the Hulkamania Era should have had a WWF title run. Piper, Perfect, DiBiase, Jake, Bossman, .,basically just not Hogan.

Ive seen this happening for the Attitude Era now. "Eddie Guerrero should've beaten the Rock for the title instead of Angle. He was SOOOOOO over." Which is like....what?

"Randy Orton isn't even that over." *gets bigass pop in every city* I don't think anyone legitimately believes that Randy Orton is coming out to Conway pops. They're just saying that he's not a top draw or as over as the company thinks he is or wishes he was. And that's true. WWE sometimes like to pretend that Orton is on the same level as John Cena when that hasn't really been the case for almost a decade.
