"Actually, winning my first world championship in the First Blood match at King Of The Ring, of course, that was overshadowed by the Hell In A Cell match between Taker and Mick [Foley], but that was my first world championship and it was against Austin. And the thing is, when people ask me the highlight of my [pro wrestling] career, despite the fact that it was so early, that was it because Austin was well on his trajectory to be one of the three biggest stars of all time. To me it's Austin, [Hulk] Hogan, and The Rock. And he was taking off and I was right there. The thing about Austin was you didn't have to do anything because Steve was so over. He was so popular it didn't matter. Everyone was just waiting for The Stunner, and then for Steve to jump up on the ring post and turnbuckle, and drink some beer. And that was it. It made it so easy that it was just tremendous." "I lost [the title] the next night in Cleveland and I will never forget the atmosphere at what was then the Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. You want to talk about electric, the excitement was tangible. I'd never been in front of a crowd like that. So as exciting as it was to win the world championship, it was even more exciting to lose it the next day because you realize you're in the middle or a part of something so special and so amazing, which is what that was. And that segment, up until that time, was the highest rated segment on RAW ever and from there, the show just went straight up, and, of course, Austin went straight up too." www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2017/0902/630779/kane-talks-the-highlight-of-his-wrestling-career/

I was at the RAW he is talking about. The explosion from the crowd when Austin won was unbelievable.
Just watching it back on the Network or YouTube, you can see how rabid the fans were for Austin. When he finally hits the Stunner and wins the title back, Cleveland became unglued and I vividly remember feeling the arena shake.

The day someone has anything bad to say about Kane, is the apocalypse. He knew his position, loved the moment, but never let it get him big headed. Just kept on cruising as a loyal soldier, gotta respect that

I wonder if this played into why he refused another title reign for so long, he didn't want to spoil the perfect memory of his one day reign.

I wonder if this played into why he refused another title reign for so long, he didn't want to spoil the perfect memory of his one day reign. It wouldn't surprise me. After that, he probably didn't want it just to have it, especially given the pressure an extended reign brings with it.

For most guys their favourite memory is winning the world title. I think it speaks volumes about how selfless and how much a professional Kane is that his is losing it.

I was so mad. I loved Kane.
It was how I felt when Taker won his first title and dropped it back to Hogan days later.

Off topic, is Kane a grand slam champion?

Off topic, is Kane a grand slam champion? He's got the WWE, World Heavyweight, ECW, Intercontinental and Hardcore titles in singles and the WWE and WCW tag titles and according to Wikipedia is the third Grand Slam Champion under the "original" rules.

To get the modern Grand Slam as WWE are currently recognising it he'd have to get the US Title though.
