Cool, now the 5,000 people who pay to watch Bound for Glory can spent $10 for it instead of $70. "5,000" is being generous.

This is GFW. Of course it won't succeed.

I love how consistently Jarrett's, "Five year plan," is, "You know shit that we miiiiiight be able to pull off in five years if we got exceeding lucky? Well, why wait, DO IT NOW!"

Honestly, removed from all hyperbole I think it's not only a realistic number (BFG 2015 apparently did 8k and TNA's viewership has sort of steadied out its bleeding to just be basement levels all the time), but a really shitty number. That would represent a whole ~2-3% of TNA's regular weekly viewerbase, which would be a non-terrible rate of audience monetization if they were like a Youtuber with a Patreon, but for a company like TNA, that's an appalling return.

Is WWE still having some difficulty making profit on the Network? Because if so, and the largest wrestling company in the world, with the largest and arguably most diverse tape library in the world, is having trouble making any real money on their paid subscription service, then how exactly does GFW expect to make any money with only a fraction of the fanbase and library?
Oh right, because they're delusional morons. Carry on.

Oh right, because they're delusional morons. Carry on. They pretty much are. The Network is stable, but there's a reason why they always load PPVs that come right as the quarter ends and why they tend to get particularly huge on the, "Free trial! Sign up for a free trial! Right now, free trial please!" around those periods. Though really WWE's issue is less that they aren't making money off the network and more that they've completely stopped seeing growth in it.

If they can somehow convince international companies like NOAH and AAA to tag along on this, I think it would be a possibly worthy venture. Something like that could be an interesting alternative to the WWE Network.
But I'm skeptical about that. Knowing the way this company does business it will only be TNA and GFW stuff with a reality show about Jeff Jarrett and his family.

The should drop the GFW name for the network and go back to TNA just for the network.
Solely to get the old people who don't quite get technology to think they're getting a porn channel.

I think it's a bad idea, but it's not quite "if WWE can't make it work how can TNA"? TNA's owned by a broadcaster who already have on demand stuff, so the infrastructure is there and the cost of covering it is thus pushed down greatly because it wrapped up in all kinds of other stuff. Having a smaller library and less viewers actually means significantly less storage and bandwidth required, but obviously the big offset to that is "Will people actually pay for it?" TNA was never able to sell PPVs because even during their hottest periods you had Russo in charge and his style is not conducive to selling PPVs at f***ing all, so it became kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Even with a monthly One Night Only it'd be a hard sell due to those shows being One Night Onlys.

Yeah, it feels like the solution to any potential problems is 'Put GFW on the Fight Network app as an archived thing'. Trying to spin it off when there's no substantial audience to justify it seems ridiculous to me.

Isn't that how they came up with the TNA name in the first place? To fool people into ordering PPV thinking is was porn.

If they get the whole TNA library on this, it's not bad. But I'm thinking they should instead have focued on doing good PPV shows and then to attract people to get those PPV you put on stuff from your library on them. You don't have to copy all the other models.
The thing is, when I hear the name "Global Wrestling Network" it sounds better than GFW. They probably should have name their company that.

It took two years for them to break the goal of one million subscribers, before they did they took losses on it. New Japan World has yet to reach a hundred thousand subscribers as well which is their goal for next year. If they have struggled, what makes them think they'll make money off it? Oh wait, they'll think it'll just fall right into their laps automatically like they always do like they believe the ratings are going to shoot up to five million viewers anyday now.

My understanding is that they've somewhat mended fences, but still keep their distance for the most part. Jerry, if he actually owns any of the Memphis stuff (that's still unconfirmed) hasn't seen fit to sell it to McMahon yet, and I don't think he's close enough to Jeff these days to give him a good enough price break to get it.
