I suppose the WWE Network launch wasn't that much better, but then again, people actually wanted that service. WWE at least bothered to announce when the service went live. It seems like someone launched it early by accident, since it's been password-locked now and nowhere on their website or Twitter is it mentioned.

From my wife, an experienced devops engineer: "As someone who releases software like this for a living, [an accidental launch] is very hard to do. That said, I wouldn't put it past them."

It's not a shock when they f*** it up, it's a shock when they do something right.

An accidental launch.
TNA truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

So it's all the TNA Impacts and monthly PPVs from 2004-onward? Just wanted to make sure I got it right.

I suppose the WWE Network launch wasn't that much better, but then again, people actually wanted that service. These days a lot of launches come out rough because the system is under a lot of pressure and doesn't know how to handle it all. A lot of multiplayer games end up with big wait times on launch day, and whenever Steam puts on its big holiday sale the site comes to a mad halt and everything breaks for a few hours. WWE Network dropped with the usual fare, but it quickly bounced back, its content actually worked once you got around the server issues, and in anticipation of problems, they even ran the first NXT Takeover in part as a stress test to see how it could handle live programming being viewed by pretty much the entire service so they could address the issues before Wrestlemania came around. Where this becomes a TNA launch is in almost nothing being paywalled, pages being broken or having the wrong information, and apparently being an accidental( ) launch in the middle of the night that then got quietly shoved under the rug.

TNA would definitely be the company who'd hire coders with no idea what a test environment is.

£5 says that when it does go live, they forget to give enough access for people to sign up.
And then after a few days:
Jeff: "There must still be something wrong with it!" Tech: "It appears to be working properly." Jeff: "Then why is nobody signing up?" Tech: "Well, there have been some sign ups..." Jeff: "I meant people that don't have to sign up because it's in their contract!"

I refuse to believe this was accidental. Watch as a story comes out in the next couple months that the team working on it stopped getting paid halfway through development.

My wife, part two:
"That's a total devops fail. Either someone pushed it live manually on purpose (which is bad), or a piece of their automation setup pushed it to the live environment instead of the testing one (which is bad). Their department f***ed up big time - if they even have a devops department. It's probably Bram throwing episodes of Impact onto an FTP server."
