Crossover with the Nostalgia Critic. Pretty fun review.

I'm hoping there's a blooper reel.

I was kinda intrigued by this when Linkara first announced it, as I figured it would be a pretty half assed and horrible adaptation. After watching the episode and discovering it wasn't I'm not entirely sure why Linkara wanted to review it. I can understand wanting to review a comic book adaptation of a notoriously bad movie, or a bad comic book adaptation of a good movie, but why would you want to review a good (although not perfect) adaptation of a good movie? It just seems like you could get better material elsewhere.
Also I just found out that Linkara dropped US-1 #7 from his schedule in favor of a Patreon review of Stormwatch #0. I am very very sad about this.

Also I just found out that Linkara dropped US-1 #7 from his schedule in favor of a Patreon review of Stormwatch #0. I am very very sad about this. He might have done that because next year, as part of it leading to 10 years of having done the show, he's going to do his best to have most of the reviews that year be related to something throughout the history of the show...so he's just pushing it back a bit. Learned that in some of his P.O. Unboxing videos.

The bit regarding the money having Joker's face on it was originally in the film (and is in the novelization). All of the bills were laced with his chemicals. I'm assuming they cut it because it implied that even if Batman got the balloons away, everyone in that crowd still died. I was kinda intrigued by this when Linkara first announced it, as I figured it would be a pretty half assed and horrible adaptation. It just seems like you could get better material elsewhere. I'm guessing once he wrapped up the Star Trek movie adaptations, he's moving on to Batman movie adaptations (he previously covered the Batman & Robin one).

The sequence where they deconstruct each other's gimmicks was funnier than it had any right to be.

I'd forgotten how much they cut from the movie for this, but given page considerations (and, let's face it, very few movie adaptation comics back then were close to 100% loyal to the movie) it makes some sense. Though, man, some of the cuts they made....
Sometimes - and I'm sorta surprised he didn't mention it in this review (unless he has elsewhere) - the comic creators have access to just enough material to work off of, or even a slightly different draft of the movie plot/script. But a lot of the art is quite spot on with what's in the final movie, so it's just weird edits and omissions here.
But Ordway's wonderful art has always saved this book for me. It's friggin' gorgeous.
