He did a great job pacing that match tonight, I thought. He's never gonna be a guy that blows me away but this one of those cases where I really began to appreciate just how smart the guy is as a worker. Shinsuke played his part well but this was easily his best showing and I think Orton played a big part in that.

I always thought aside from the horrible headlock rest spots that Orton's been able to dictate matches quite well, and overall be a good leader and put guys over. He did so tonight. Really nice match. Got the crowd super into it.

It convinced me that Orton could have fit well in NJPW if the winds of fate were different.

Orton proved he's as great as he says he is out there tonight because honestly that's the best Nakamura's looked on the main roster. Randy doesn't get the credit he deserves in the ring. He and Jinder meshed well in the ring as well. He's that established guy there full-time who you use to push others to their full potential.

Orton can and always does make his opponents look like a million bucks. The thread earlier about Mark Henry is proof of that. If I recall he also wanted to make the Christian feud more competitive but Vince McMahon's legit hatred of him put an end to that. Him and Cena put Nakamura to work and thankfully Nakamura delivered because he was kind of spinning his wheels in NXT from an in-ring perspective.

I've always preferred the term "Canvas Commander".

There's a reason people like wrestling him. I've never heard anyone do an interview and say anything but positive things about working with Orton.

I agree with what Cena said a few years back...that Orton was the best worker in the WWE. Today..probably not. But he's still a hell of a wrestler, chinlocks be damned.

There's a reason people like wrestling him. I've never heard anyone do an interview and say anything but positive things about working with Orton. Yea, Christian and Jericho talked about how good Randy is and sometimes he doesn't even know it. As i've said before Randy at 70% is better than a lot of guys out there and at 100% he's a beast but he's a guy who you won't always get A effort from so you get iffy results despite the talent. I believe Seth talked about how Randy was the one to say f*** it let's do it for their Curb Stomp into RKO spot. He said Randy basically said it's Mania and i'm tired of playing it safe let's go out and do it despite them not landing the spot one time in practice. Randy is a guy who I believe can wrestle any style but he's also the "perfect WWE wrestler." Cody hasn't adapted to the NJPW style but I think a guy like Orton could work. I brought up in a thread before about how I want to see him vs Okada for the RKO into Rainmaker spot or vice versa. Two dudes that can get it done in the ring with perfect finishers to set up many combos finishes

I knew Orton and Nakamura would have phenomenal chemistry together. Nakamura has been wrestling on a slower Orton like pace since he arrived in the WWE and heavily relies on perfectly timed big spots and counters to make his matches entertaining just like Orton.
I was worried the match wouldn't deliever with the limited amount of TV time but boy did they use all those minutes. Seriously they are perfect for each other

Excellent match. Nakamura has been stepping up his game lately. And Orton is one of the best in the world when he doesn't have to work with dead weight (Wyatt, Mahal).

Orton's a weird one. He's had so many dull matches for someone that's had so many excellent ones, and so many excellent matches for someone that's had so many dull ones.
He's been in a bit of a trough for several months, though, so I hope this is Good Randy coming back for a while again.

Combining everything (selling, psychology, etc). Orton is the best in the company, IMO. Has been for years.

When Randy Orton is on he is someone who definitely belongs in a WWE that has really outpaced itself in terms of ring talent expectations. Since his training and even the biggest glory days of his career, things have escalated big time, but he's managed to keep up with it and show that he deserves to hang with dudes like Nakamura and AJ who are miles ahead of the sorts of guys he was expected to work with ten years ago.

I think just shows Orton is just as much as a fan/mark as any of us "I have to face Jinder for the third time?Yeh whatever"(given ,the first one was supposedly good) "I have to face Nakamura? Now that will be fun"

I'm of the mindset that some fans are gonna look back in 10-15 years and realize they didn't appreciate him enough
