It's so crazy how WCW and NJPW both booked such controversial, infamous moments for US and Japanese wrestling on the same day. Naoya Ogawa shooting on Shinya Hashimoto at the Tokyo Dome on Inoki's behalf and starting a legit in-ring brawl, then that same day Hogan and Nash executing the Fingerpoke of Doom to reform the nWo. Both companies thought these decisions would be great for business, but then they went through a downward trajectory later. And then in WWF, there was Mankind's "butts in seats" world title win over Rock.
Right now I'm trying to come up with other dates when multiple unusual things occurred in the wrestling world.

January 4th, 2010 is sort of like that. Hogan and Bischoff coming into TNA and basically changing it instantly. Also Bret Hart coming back to WWE. Don't know if anything happened in Japan that day.

Just Wrestle Kingdom IV as far as I can tell. I watched a few of the matches on NJPW World, it was a fun show but I dunno if it was earth-shattering. And I'm not sure if the Ogawa incident was a worked-shoot or not, but it got attention.

I thought the finger poke was fine, a great Heel moment but just a shame the aftermath was crap

A really mediocre Wrestle Kingdom. The Nakamura title win was far. Not his greatest match, but sometimes you just have to enjoy Wrestle Kingdom for the spectacle. Also, NOAH's top belt getting high billing on the show was pretty cool. It makes you realize how far they've fallen.
