The stipulation to AJ's match was that he had ten minutes to pin a 52 year-old man twice or else Zbyszko would become his manager. He had to cheat to get just one fall, and didn't get the second, so for a few weeks Zbyszko managed AJ until Russo got bored of the idea. I think this is gonna be the stipulation for every EWR match I ever book now. Loser has to hang out with Larry Zbyszko. You monster!

All title matches are contested under Last Man Standing rules because initial experiments resulted in both participants lying down to a stalemate/challengers disqualifying themselves.

In 2009 TNA announced they were touring Australia. Then Hogan and co. took over so it never happened. I believe they were advertised to have the Melbourne show at Rod Laver Arena (where WWE usually holds it's Melbourne events) which is a 16,200 seated arena. I get the feeling if it actually happened, it would have been a trainwreck. Nothing to do with Hogan and Bischoff. TNA had booked major arenas (The same WWE book when they visit here) and postponed the event due to lack of ticket sales. Of course they never booked an event here ever again, lost their good TV deal and went to a smaller network and then lost the smaller network deal and were left with nothing. TNA doesn't just fail in America, folks.

f***ing WHAT I don't remember this at all and now my day is 1000x better knowing that it's a thing. I think we should also mention when AJ had a match with a near immobile Dusty Rhodes and totally got his ass beat half the time. The stipulation to AJ's match was that he had ten minutes to pin a 52 year-old man twice or else Zbyszko would become his manager. He had to cheat to get just one fall, and didn't get the second, so for a few weeks Zbyszko managed AJ until Russo got bored of the idea. How's that even possible? Everyone knows Zbyszko stalls for at least 20 minutes!

This would be the hardest fought matches in history as both opponents really don't want the job

Most of the announced card for their big Monday Night January 4th debut. Barbed Wire Massacres and other bullshit.

Don't forget when Larry Zbyszko showed up just to call AJ an asshole, and then they booked a match where AJ had to pin him twice in ten minutes or else AJ would have to hang out with an old dude. Or that SEX went under because Vince Russo filed a copyright claim against them in-universe. Early TNA was amazing. f***ing WHAT I don't remember this at all and now my day is 1000x better knowing that it's a thing. I think we should also mention when AJ had a match with a near immobile Dusty Rhodes and totally got his ass beat half the time. The best part is this match was part of a backstage power grab, because Russo really wanted his then manager Mortimer Plumtree (who?) gone.

so Vince Russo came out super drunk and depressed looking like the most deadbeat dad ever. So like every other appearance he's ever made, then?

Off the top of my head all I remember of what actually went down on that January 4th show is an NWO rehash and an off the wagon Jeff Hardy re-debuting.

All the stars debuted on that show: Hogan, Bischoff, Flair, Jeff Hardy, RVD (?), Val Venis, Shannon Moore... Is that the show where Val Venis showed up at the arena just to take a shower? Random TNA.

I remember that one time JJ tweeted about something with a non-disclosure agreement or something.....I think that it turned out that he was going to marry Karen or something though, it's been a while.

Off the top of my head all I remember of what actually went down on that January 4th show is an NWO rehash and an off the wagon Jeff Hardy re-debuting. I don't remember the full details but there was a match planned, then in the middle of the show they changed it to be (I think) Abyss vs. Rhino in the Barb Wire Massacre match...but then showed Abyss and Rhino post attacks in the back area. So whatever the original match was, we got that instead, and there was never any mention of this ever again. It's like they were doing things on the fly, or someone REALLY wanted this match to be a thing and snuck it into the show somewhere, only when someone higher up saw it they sacked the guy and had to do additional backstage stuff to explain why they had to cancel it and make things even MORE complicated!
