Eric "I don't recall" Bischoff. The world's greatest source for stories that leave the ending open for the audience.

I have no idea how big KISS is, but would they have been a big enough mainstream band to pull this off?

I'm from the UK (Did they have a fan base here?) and I was 16 at the time and its not my preference in music at all, I know who they are but I couldn't tell you how big they were especially at that time. I couldn't tell you one song they sang

They'd have drawn a big crowd if they'd just have held a concert with no wrestling.

The Reunion Tour did well, but the Psycho Circus Tour had its second leg cancelled. Even the Farewell Tour had an underwhelming performance in North America.

I have no idea how big KISS is, but would they have been a big enough mainstream band to pull this off? They are one of the most famous rock bands of all time. You want to talk about if they were mainstream or not? When I was a little kid I had Kiss slides for my view master before I had ever heard a note of their music. However as Nitro showed, people didn't give a shit about having them perform at a wrestling show. In fact, pretty much every musical performance at a wrestling show has failed to get the crowd amped up like they would be at one of that artist's actual concerts.

While they would have been a lot of wrestling fans and a lot of Kiss fans, I imagine the Venn diagram of somebody been fans of both is a lot smaller for something to appeal to them
Honestly 9 times out of 10 when there is a musical act on a wrestling show I tend to do something else while they perform (it would take a band like the Pixies for me to sit and watch)

It still would have been a mistake, though, for that "wrestling fans and musical acts don't tend to mesh."

I heard it was going to end with the Kiss demon throwing Vampiro and ICP into a vat of "holy water". All of a sudden, Paul Bearer being encased in concrete at Great American Bash,,well, it's still bad, but it wouldnt be the worse ending to a wrestling ppv if that had gone off as planned.

If it was 1997, it would be a different story, but by 1999 a lot of the shine had come off the (Black) Diamond.

PPVs at the Sturgis bike rally, another one proposed to take place during a KISS concert. Gotta love Bischoff having his employers underwrite all of his adolescent interests. I'm surprised he didn't propose a WCW version of Shotgun Saturday Night taking place at the Gold Club in Atlanta.

KISS itself would probably draw way better than WCW at that point, which is a plus. Hog Wild took wrestling at the peak of it's drawing ability and put it in front of an audience that probably overlapped with theirs, and sunk the entire gate to $0. They are at least outside the box ideas. They are completely geared toward him, you are right. But I can say that I'd really like to see promoters actually try and be different like he did sometimes.

I was a huge wrestling fan, but no way am I spending $35 for a show on NYE. Not when me and the Mrs. got a babysitter and we go out for the night! Woohoo!
(BTW, we were driving around when 12 o'clock hit. No power went out. So I told her Y2K was a myth.)

I meant mainstream enough in 1999, I get they are one of the biggest bands of all time, but so were The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Abba, Gun's N Roses etc it doesnt mean they are mainstream enough out of their era for this idea to work. Which is why I wondered if they were big enough to do something like this 20 years after they were actually huge. The idea on paper is actually quite a good idea, but I think it would suit a multi artist concert + wrestling, rather than 1 band + wrestling.

A NYE's ppv is a terrible idea from purely a scheduling standpoint.
