Everytime the universal title and brock and Roman matches are talked about, talk always comes down to speculation that nothing matters at the moment, it doesn't matter how over Braun gets or anything- the plan, ultimately, is to have a Lesnar vs Reigns rematch at Mania next year.
This seems a bit short sighted to me if it's true. So it doesn't matter how over Braun gets, we have to hold him off until Roman gets his 7th(?) coronation next April before Braun can have his moment.
I have checked sources on it and it does seem to be, according to many sources, the plan for next year.
Surely it can't be that sadly inevitable?
I loved the first match, but Reigns needs more work, he can't just be booed out of the building in his fourth Mania main event in a row can he?
I want Braun vs Brock at Mania personally.

It kind of reminds me of Rock vs. Cena: Twice in a Lifetime where the entire fall plans were boned because they HAD to do Rock vs. Cena again and wouldn't budge on plans they made back in August, which really hurt WM29. Except this time it's been going since April.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they yet again get to about February and abruptly decide to do something else entirely. Though if they had any sense at all they'd just do this shit at Survivor Series or whatever and get it over with.
Still really curious though what the hell they're going to do with Roman after this inevitably still completely fails to make him any sort of a success as the flag bearer. They've given him everything BUT beating Lesnar, what accolade do they throw on him after that? Retiring Rock? Retiring Cena? Breaking Flair's record? Breaking Bruno's? The hell else is there?

What's going to be even more tedious is when they inevitably get cold feet again and back off after Roman gets mercilessly shit on at the Rumble. And inevitably stick him in the world's worst program with the world's worst Bray Wyatt again. And then the cycle repeats because nobody else is allowed to end Lesnar...

I'm sure it will happen, unless something happens like an injury or a contract dispute

Seriously. I know they want this guy to be viewed a certain way, but it's not working. Sole Survivor 2013, most eliminations in a Rumble 2014, Rumble winner 2015, multi-time WWE Champion, main event of 3 WrestleManias in a row, retired Undertaker at WrestleMania. Jesus Christ, those don't sound like the accolades of a guy you're trying to cement on top. Those sound like the accolades of a guy who should be the biggest f***ing draw this decade, and he's nowhere close. If all that shit I just said didn't change people's minds, beating Brock sure as shit won't do it.

Putting it into perspective - if he headlines Mania 33, he'll have main-evented more Manias consecutively than Cena ever did and more period than Austin. That is f***ing insane. And also, on that Rumble thing - Roman's been in four Rumbles. The WORST he's done is come in third. Again, that is nuts.

Did it occur to WWE that the Rumble will be in Philly again? The same place where the fiasco of the 2015 Rumble went down? Look, whatever way they want to get to Roman/Lesnar again it cannot possibly be via a Reigns Rumble win. That would be the single most insane piece of booking of all time. They can have Reigns win a #1 contender match a few weeks later on Raw, or the Chamber or whatever.

What doesn't help is Dave Meltzer putting in the Observer "Lesnar v Reigns is still the plan, guys" just about every week since before last WrestleMania.
Like, you could probably guess that that's the outcome based solely on the TV, since Reigns is still very much in the mix, but it really doesn't help having the most prominent journalist in the field basically spelling out for you that whatever is happening right now is irrelevant, duty-bound or not.

Yes.
2015. 2016. 2017. 2018.
4 straight main events. He's still got to get to 7 to tie Hogan who had 7 consecutive main events at WrestleMania.
Rock. Austin. Cena. Nope.
None of them have Main evented 4 straight. So Vince will want to keep Roman strong.

Nope. I mean, what exactly did they have planned for those two this time last year?

He's only ever been the main event four consecutive times (V, VI, VII, VIII). Roman will be the greatest of all time, dammit.

As inevitable as our souls dying slowly at No Mercy. They've given him so many accolades, as if he's a character in 2Ks my career mode. What's next? Defeating The Rock at Mania? Breaking CM Punk's 434 reign when he inevitably regains the WWE title? Be the longest reigning Universal champion? Defeat literally all challengers one way or another? Grand Slam/triple crown champ? Most Mania main events? Good god, enough is enough. I dig the man to a degree, but this is absolutely ludicrous.

Inevitable ... I'd argue that's been Roman's problem for a long ass time

The problem with Roman's inevitability is that WWE won't even really commit to it. Actually just strapping the rocket to him and giving him some epic year long title run would at least give the company a solid idea of what he can and can't do as a draw. Instead he gets these lame little 1-2 month title runs.
Why not at least put the belt on Strowman at the PPV on Sunday? If this Reigns/Lesnar crap has to happen at WM, it's not like Lesnar can't regain at the Rumble or something. They can at least have an actual champion on Raw for the rest of the NFL season. I don't think WWE even grasps the notion that Lesnar has already played them with the UFC rumors. He either gets a big new contract or he leaves after WM and everyone knows it, and thus whatever heat Reigns could get out of that win is gone. At least with him jobbing on Sunday you can make Strowman a star, then let Reigns get his final win over Lesnar at WM.
