Pretty nice Sports Illustrated interview with the IWGP Jr. champion right before last night's ROH Death Before Dishonor PPV: www.si.com/extra-mustard/2017/09/22/kushida-njpw-roh-daniel-bryanThe interviewer brings up that Bryan mentioned KUSHIDA by name as a guy he'd love to face should he leave WWE in 2018, to which KUSHIDA, naturally, replied: There's some more nice stuff in there: KUSHIDA brings up how he's adapted to a much more global presence (and thus more hectic travel schedule), how he'd like to take on some heavyweights more often (KUSHIDA FOR G1, PLS), that he'd be thrilled to reform the Timesplitters with Alex Shelley at any time, and how he credits Sakuraba for teaching him how to be a better grappler and Tajiri for teaching him better ring psychology...and credits both as "crazy drinkers", which he also learned from. Most interestingly, I like that they discuss a bit about the differences between a typical NJPW show and a more standard western indy show, how indy talent has to worry about how they might only get one shot in a promotion and thus might go all-out from match one on a card all the way to the main event, while a NJPW card is structured to build up more so that the early part of the card is simpler and more "fundamental" (starting with Young Lions, legends, and tags) while the drama is saved for the second half matches. Regardless, good stuff, and as long as Danielson is honestly cleared and ready to go next year then good God almighty do I want to see him and KUSHIDA in the ring together.

KUSHIDA vs. Danielson is a match I hadn't even thought of until now. It would be incredible.
But then again, Bryan Danielson vs. pretty much anybody on the New Japan roster would be incredible.

Never would have pegged Tajiri as a drinker. I wonder if, when Austin was having his alliance era meltdown and confiding on Tajiri if they were riding together?
