I thought this was an awesome storyline, have any variants of it been used again?

The key to this storyline was that no matter who emerged as WWF Champion he would be worthy, as he would have pinned a former champ under high pressure. Ric Flair's photos with Elizabeth were hilarious and the live promo with a thoroughly confident Flair getting in the face of Ultimate Warrior was surreal. Adding Mr. Perfect to the mix assured there would be shenanigans and someone's gonna get hurt too. The post-match beatdown of Savage looked brutal. This was as well booked an angle as any before or since then. I loved it and to me it really didnt matter who came out on top. ...and no Hulk Hogan sticking his big nose in this biz was a plus and unheard of at that time.

The angle didn't make much sense. All Savage and Warrior should have done is say "Flair/Perfect never contacted me" or "I rejected their offer." There was no reason for either of them to distrust each other but trust Flair's/Perfect's claims.

He was using it to get in Warrior's head too, but then they targeted Warrior. They didn't trust each other because Warrior had made it clear he'd do anything to be champion again. The heels made the faces distrust each other and in the end won.

Like, Savage knows he didn't sell out and Warrior knows he didn't, so the moment Flair does his promo with Warrior and Perfect does his with Savage, it should have been "Yeah, okay, they're screwing with us." Plus, at the SummerSlam Spectacular, Flair and Perfect attacked one of them (can't remember who) and allowed the Nasty Boys to double team the other guy. That right there should have been a red flag, yet all the announcers just kept believing Flair and Perfect were telling the truth. Doing that made the whole thing stupid because if someone had turned and joined the heels, it would have meant either Flair/Perfect beat up their own man just to swerve people or they let the Nasty Boys beat up their guy.

Savage, Hennig and Warrior sure have had some interesting situations regarding teaming with each other. Hennig here causing distrust between Savage and Warrior, then Hennig turning face and replacing Warrior on Savage's team and later Savage replacing Hennig at Survivor Series 93...

There was no reason for either of them to distrust each other but trust Flair's/Perfect's claims. Wasn't the original plan for them to help Warrior turning him heel but Warrior vetoed it. He then got fired again soon after anyway, so that was probably a blessing in disguise that he didn't do it.

Yes but either could have been double bluffing, and if they wanted either of them to turn heel, that would have been the outcome, but we wouldn't have known which one until it happened. But they went with the route of the heels being liars to screw with them so both could stay face and join forces. It was a well done angle IMO
