16 years ago, the BBC made one of the great nature documentaries when they made Blue Planet. It concentrated on underwater species, was a massive success and the same team went on to make Planet Earth. And now, we have the follow-up. David Attenborough is once again narrating. Here's the trailer.
Oh hell yeah!

Planet Earth II was just heavenly, so I'm excited about all this.
To be honest, I suffer from thallasophobia, so I'd probably be scared watching this, especially if they do trench life. But, nonetheless, we need documentaries that showcase life without nonsense (think more Mutual of Omaha's Wild Earth and far, far less Disney Nature).

New trailer.
Absolutely stunning. Ridiculously hyped for this.
I actually saw the same trailer on BBC1 earlier but with Space Oddity playing over it. It starts on Sunday October 29th.

No one can match the cinematography of BBC's nature documentaries. Absolutely no one. Every single one is gorgeous.
This one looks especially amazing.

Starts tomorrow night at 8pm. Can’t wait! The DVD/Blu-ray is out November 27th. There’s even a box set out that day with both Blue Planets on it.

Strictly followed by Attenborough.
I can hear ITV weeping.

Strictly followed by Attenborough. I can hear ITV weeping. BBC also has The Last Post consistently pulling in 4 million viewers in the 9pm slot too.

I watched the last series on a crappy CRT TV and it was still stunning.
So can't wait to see the luminescent sea life in HD on a decent sized widescreen TV.

That was worth the wait. The bit where the Dolphins were being chased by the False Killer Whales only to stop and have a reunion was heart-warming.

I'm not as much of a fan of these compared to other non-ocean series. That's just my preference and not due to the quality, which was as good as you would expect.
I am looking forward to seeing the weird and wonderful things that should show up next week.

Those bird-eating fish were utterly terrifying.
Loved the dolphins and the false killer whales swerving everyone and forming an oceanic Bullet Club.
Amazing to see the dolphins using the seaweed as medicine
Those ugly sex-swapping fish freaked me out.
Felt sad for the mother walruses who don't have enough ice to sit on.
Great first episode

Can't believe I'm only hearing about this now. Very excited to get into it, I especially love the ones that focus on the deep sea creatures, they're almost alien and it's so fascinating.

Damn I couldn't get my head around some of that, the scale, transparent heads, freaky fish with feet and especially eels swimming out out of a lake into the ocean. It just didn't seem real at times.

The Ocean is a crazy place.
Those Bird eating fish were crazy.. Though I always thought that Great White Sharks were the only Fish that could stick their heads out of water.
Loving this series.

I'm sure there are some tiny frogs (and probably other stuff) that are transparent, but imagine what it would be like having see through bits on animals you see (or don't ) every day.

And so endeth the series. That last episode was very well done, a plea for humanity to take more responsibility for what we’re doing to the planet and Marine life in particular, without being too overly Political. The whale trying to eat the plastic bucket was heartbreaking.
