The 2003 World Series would have been epic had it been Red Sox vs Cubs. The two most star crossed franchises in sports and only one team could end it's misery. It could have been the stuff of legend, like last year's World Series x100. But fate had to screw with both teams again and instead we got Yankees vs Marlins, a series anyone barely remrmbers. {Spoiler}***K YOU GRADY!!! Ooooh.. I wonder who would've taken that..

Honestly, I wouldn't shocked if the baseball gods would somehow cause the '03 series to end in a tie if the Cubs and Sox made it. Personally I wanted Cubs vs. Yankees. The Lovable Losers against the Evil(to the rest of ya) Empire? The Franchise that Ruled it's sport vs. The Team that gets ruled? And they are two of the oldest Pro Baseball Clubs AND it's the 100th Anniversary of the World Series? It writes itself.

If we got Cubs/Sox that year and it went to a 7th game, the ratings would have been unbelievable.

Rafael Nadal vs Roger Federer at the Us Open
They have played 12 times at Majors(5 French Open,4 Australian Open,3 Wimbledon)
Shocking this has never happened and may not ever as father time probably doesn't have many years left for either at top level.

I badly wanted to see that this year. I'm a huge Nadal fan and Federer beat him at Aussie, then they both won the next 2 majors. They seemed like they were on a collision course, but Del Potro ruined it. Roger said he wasn't 100% and Nadal would have beaten him anyway, but history won't remember that. Nadal looked like a monster on the court that tournament. I don't like to think about that rivalry ever ending. Just enjoy it while it's going on, because this is one of the true golden ages of tennis. Especially once Novak comes back healthy.

If the Red Sox beats the Indians in the one game playoff to decide the pennant in 1948 we would have had Red Sox vs Braves in an all Boston World Series.
Came close to having an all Texas Super Bowl XIII had the Oilers not lost to the Steelers.
1991 we came close to having a North Carolina - Duke NCAA basketball championship game. That game would have been a war.

Even as a Patriots fan, I still wonder what would have happened if the Bears and Dolphins faced each other in the Super Bowl. McMahon was there for the Super Bowl, and the defense had turned their own dominance up another notch during the playoffs that year. I think they would have whooped up in a rematch. Well...if Buddy Ryan was willing to allow an actual safety to cover the receivers and not stick poor Wilber Marshall on a speedy little guy....

Lakers with Kobe vs Lebron and the Cavs This. They spent the entire playoffs hyping them up with the Nike puppets, and then the Cavs ended up losing to the Magic. f*** those puppets

I think it was 1999 when the Red Sox and Cubs almost both made it to the World Series. The two biggest World Series droughts in the MLB going head to head. No matter who won it would have been memorable.
I think instead we got the Yankees winning it. Again.

The only blemish on the resume of the 1990s Chicago Bulls is that they had a massive hole at center but never played a team in The Finals with a competent big man. The biggest criticism of the mid-90s Houston Rockets is that they won their two championships in the two seasons when Michael Jordan wasn't on the floor. It's a shame we never got one Bulls vs. Rockets series in The Finals.
Also, somebody mentioned it earlier, but time is ticking away on a possible Aaron Rodgers versus Tom Brady, Packers-Patriots Super Bowl. They've come close several times but it's never played out that way. I'd like to see it just once before Brady retires.

Rodgers has seen his prime wasted because he's had hot garbage for defense going for 6 years.
