Men lose to Tech & the women lose to the Hoosiers in the WNIT. Not a good day to be a Boilermaker.

Hey, at least Duke/Kansas and Villanova/TX Tech are actual regional finals. The other half of the bracket might as well be a bad preseason Great Alaskan Shootout. I think that's the problem I have with teams like Kansas St. and Florida St. being this far. There's nothing interesting about them story wise. Both are mediocre major conference teams, not really Cinderellas or anything, but not anyone that has any business being in the Elite 8. It's like South Carolina last year. Who could possibly care? Good grief, aside from Michigan that entire left side of the bracket isn't much different than the Final 4 of the NIT. I bet WKU could take out Loyola on a good day. Mississippi St. and Utah are basically the same sort of marginal major conference teams as FSU and KSU.
Let's face it, FSU lost twice to U of L this year. No one decent lost to U of L this year, haha.

Loyola beat Miami and Tennessee, Kansas State beat Kentucky, Michigan beat everyone they faced soundly, and Florida State has destroyed Xavier and Gonzaga No matter how you feel about the other half of the bracket, it shows why people LOVE March Madness because on any given day, there can be stories you don't expect, and that whole side is just that, and no matter how they played in the season, it doesn't matter, they've turned it on at the right time, and you can't say they haven't earned their way here when they've beaten the best to GET there.

Congrats to Loyola Chicago on making the Final Four for the first time in 55 years. What a run they’ve had this March. I’m pulling for them next weekend in San Antonio.

FSU was looking like it was locked for them to win, and then one of their guys thought he was Steph Curry and took a 29 footer.

Well I have Michigan at any rate, though I wish someone had told me they only shoot 66% at the line as a team. That's bound to kill them at some point in the next two games.
After what has been frankly a nightmare season for college basketball this Loyola run is almost exactly what they needed. A heartwarming, feel good Cinderella (with a 98 year old nun, no less!) that has true college athletes and even has echoes of the Civil Rights era from when they won the title in 1963.
My previous point of contrast is that Loyola is an actual fun Cinderella story. Kansas St. and FSU are two marginal major conference teams that really don't have any business being in an Elite 8. At least with FSU they did beat the #1 seed Xavier (who was frankly fraudulent given how much they over performed Pythagorean expectations) and did also beat up on Gonzaga. Kansas St. had the most dreary and uninspiring Elite 8 run of all time however. Beat Creighton in the first round, big whoop. Then got the gift of all time in a 16 seed in the 2nd round and scraped by in an ugly game. Then edged a flat UK team mainly because PJ Washington sucked at the FT line (8-20!). I was stunned KSU was even favored today since I thought it was a no brainer that Loyola would win, but it was how resounding it was that sort of surprised me.
I noticed that Sister Jean had her guys losing to Cincy. I guess she thought the Bearcats would pay them back for that 1963 title loss, which ended Cincy's dynasty run of 5 straight Final 4s and prevented a threepeat?

As much as I love the run Loyola has had, I have a feeling they're gonna get creamed by Michigan. Either way, whoever wins that game will surely be the underdogs against whoever makes it on the other side.
