This game has been going on for just over an hour and a half and we haven't even finished three innings. As much as I love the drama of winner-take-all one-game playoff baseball, this is interminable. At the pace this game is going, it'll be well past midnight locally before we know who'll be the American League Wild Card winner. How long before people bitching about the Wild Card being one game Despite my complaints about the length of tonight's game, I love it. I love the drama of the game itself and the thrill of the chase for the final two playoff spots in each League. There's nothing in sports quite like a game 7 in baseball and the Wild Card game assures us at least two game 7s every October.

The third inning just ended now.
If Joe West was umpiring this game, he wouldn't be very pleased.

I think that was the first 1-2-3 half-inning of the game.

Heads up play by Castro there by seeing that dude missed the bag. I thought the umpire just made the most bizarre call ever but replay showed he got it right.

If you're a Yankees fan, or a Twins fan, you should be proud of your team.
Both teams exceeded expectations, are young, and are ahead of schedule.

Chad Green is the MVP of this game. He was put in a terrible position of being down 3-0, needing 2 outs, and 2 guys are in scoring position...and he just struck the next two batters out.

Yes, I will freely admit that I was down on the Kahnle/Robertson/T. Frazier trade at the end of July, but goddamn did those two deliver tonight:
5.2 IP, 3H. 0R, 1BB, 6K's + The peace of mind of not seeing Betances. (At least not tonight anyway.)
Kahnle, Green & Robertson pitched with some serious balls tonight. Hats off to all three of 'em as the Yanks continue the time-honored tradition of finishing the Twins' season.
Onward to LeBron's second favorite team!

Not only did they pitch well, but even the 1 earned run after the 1st inning was a grounder that almost was a double play.

Really glad that Severino's nerves didn't cost the team the game. Green, D-Rob, and Kahnle were all excellent tonight. Especially Robertson and Kahnle going multiple innings. And Chapman was back in Chapman-like form.
I thought it was going to be a painful night when Severino didn't even last a single inning, but the bullpen was excellent tonight. And Didi's 3 run blast made it a whole new ballgame.

And the bullpen is the reason why I believe the Yankees can go far I want to chalk Severino performance up to just nerves but yea if the Yankees can get leads with Tanaka, Gray after 5-6 innings than they have a great chance to win games in Cleveland They def need to still one of the first 2 games

I think the Indians are going to wipe the floor with the Yankees, since the Indians have owned them all season and are also red hot with the best pitcher in the game in Kluber.
That said, you never know what happens in October.
