Obviously, the whole thing is ass. Balor's being shoehorned as a "dark" character because of the demon paint and that's never what it was meant to be. Aside from being a way to take advantage of the popularity he had with the airbrush prior to WWE without having to pay royalties, it was simply a manifestation of a certain mindset he wanted to have for certain matches. Meanwhile, creative has had chance after chance after chance to either make him extremely interesting or even to rescue him from previous failings and turn the whole thing around. Along with the fact that he loses EVERY story he's in, they've botched the Wyatt character by basically trying to get EVERY dark-type character out of him. He's a cult leader, then mystical, supernatural, god-like, voodoo...it's ridiculous. The extra terrible part is that, at least the first few times he lost, fans of Wyatt had a glimmer of hope but then every single time creative just turns it up to 11 on the ridicu-shit scale. but he doesn't lose every story he's in. Immediately before the Finn feud he beat Seth Rollins, and he won the blow off feud against Randy Orton... and he beat John Cena and AJ Styles to win the WWE Title before that. the problem is Bray's storylines have no meaning so it's ultimately irrelevant.

The only thing they haven't done yet is glue a pair of horns to his head (no, the horned hoodie he used to wear doesn't count) and shout "BRAY WYATT IS LITERALLY THE DEVIL!!!" And I'm not entirely sure that's not next on the agenda for him.

I'm not trying to be a little bit funny. In the history of professional wrestling, has there ever been a character that has gotten as much screen time as Bray Wyatt and has so little of actual value to show for it? My goodness.

Bray is still the absolute worst. Dude seriously needs a long vacation... and when he come back drop all of this terrible supernatural shit and give him a clear goal... and if they are going to continue to let him write his promos remove any time he tries to slip back into say vague and spooky stuff for no reason... and stop using him as the get out of booking free thing for whenever they have a face that they think is too important to have doing nothing... but don't want to really push them right now... because it does literally nothing for anyone at best. Reset him back to the creepy hillbilly cult guy.

So I suppose this is Wyatt's counter to Finn's demon character. Will Abigail be wrestling the demon? Are we supposed to cheer for implied male on female violence now? I feel bad for any parents that have to explain this shit to their kids. I think it's pretty easy for parents to explain to their kids, they just need to say this "Well kids, sometimes...wrestling it just weird...like really, really weird." "Sometimes, Children..." and just put on New Japan World for them and raise them right.

When Vince tells you you're having a three-month program with Jason Jordan after you're finished losing to Finn.

To me the worst part wasn't the segment itself. It was later in the show when they interview Finn and he's like "OMG, that was scary. What am I going to do!!!" Agreed. He should have gone through that, paused for a second, then laugh mightily and go "Yeah, I'm gonna stomp the hell outta that goober. Laterz", and walked off.

Aside from being a way to take advantage of the popularity he had with the airbrush prior to WWE without having to pay royalties, it was simply a manifestation of a certain mindset he wanted to have for certain matches. Finn Balor has been, from his NXT days, a character with a "dark side." Whatever the original intent might have been for the bodypaint, it's clearly evolved from that original intention into something far deeper and more resonant with the fans. Even as a "dark" character, Finn is seen by many fans as WWE facedom's brightest light - he's in Steamboat territory as a babyface. It's quite possible that WWE intends to break our hearts by somehow turning Finn heel as the result of this feud, channeling the Demon in its fullest manifestation to the extent that our sweet little Finn is lost within it. However, it's also possible that the endgame is that Finn takes all that Bray dishes out and absorbs it, including it in his arsenal when he moves on towards Lesnar. This feud, no matter how executed, was never going to match the fans' expectations for it, let alone what fans might have imagined for it - budget constraints are a reality with WWE. Creative constraints may well be at play here as well - an actual woman playing Sister Abigail might play into the Rotundas' divorce drama, and wouldn't be good optics for Finn, either, if he somehow has to have any kind of physical confrontation. While I don't think it will end until Survivor Series (leaving Balor to face Lesnar possibly at the Rumble), the Creative team will be hard-pressed to provide a satisfactory narrative for this feud at the pace it's going and with what's been revealed thus far. I think we need to see and learn more about Finn's story to balance things out and get that satisfactory ending.

I think we need to see and learn more about Finn's story to balance things out and get that satisfactory ending. I think we're basically saying the same thing about Balor but getting there different ways...at least in part. I agree he's always been known to have a "dark side" but I never saw it as a literal meaning but more as a means to an end, I guess. The "dark side" was something he'd bring out for big matches, tough matches, etc. In my eyes, they've only started changing that narrative to be more of a supernatural thing fairly recently. I don't watch the programming enough to know that 100% though, so I may be completely off base but it's how I've perceived Balor's story.

Balor wears paint sometimes. That's the extent of his 'darkness' so far.

Balor wears paint sometimes. That's the extent of his 'darkness' so far. I mean in NXT he's done a few more dickish things in the paint than out of it... I mean the original NXT Brooklyn main event he double stomped Owens from the ladder when he could have just won... but yeah... he's not really been some supernatural Undertaker character.
