Recently I've been covering for my father at his part time job at a coat check and I've noticed something. People seem almost too readily to give their keys to their ten thousand plus dollar car but make it seem like pulling teeth when giving up their coats. And sometimes they are cheap with their tips

Sometimes?
PS: Cars are going for a thousand dollars now? I'm moving to your hometown, pronto.

I guess coats are easier to steal? Well isn't that why you should check them.

Actually I think this is because coat checks kind of infamously lose coats and let people walk off with the wrong one. I don't want my black cashmere overcoat replaced by some Burlington Coat Factory clearance item (I love Burlington Coat Factory actually, but the point needs to be made). I had a female friend check a long red wool coat only to have the coat check try to give her a short green polyblend jacket.
