Here are two mid-carders who have has similar careers in WWE. Both were king of the mid-card, both were pushed, but ultimately both were not main eventers who won a world title or two. They just couldn't get there and something, perhaps themselves, held them back.
So the question is, who had the better career in WWE?
Cody Rhodes:
Peak Storyline: Going up against the Authority in 2013/Facing Stephen Amell in 2015. Accomplishments: 2x Intercontinential Champion, 3x WWE Tag Team Champion, 3x World Tag Team Champion
Mr. Kennedy:
Peak Storyline: Was suppose to be revealed as Mr. McMahon's son/2007 Money in the Bank winner. Accomplishments: United States Champion, 2007 Money in the Bank
Who would you rather have had and who had more potential that wasn't utilized?

Cody has shown give him a gimmick and he can put his whole into it.
Kennedy... really only worked in one gimmick and even that had a really short shelf life.

Cody.
Cody pretty much had most of what it takes to be an upper-midcarder in WWE.
His inability to get away from the "WWE Style" crutch in RoH and NJPW has taken a lot of the shine off, but I think he still comes out ahead of Kennedy.

Cody isn't just streets ahead of Ken Anderson, he's highways ahead.

To this day, I don’t understand Ken Anderson’s appeal. He’s like a less talented modern day Ronnie Garvin.

To this day, I don’t understand Ken Anderson’s appeal. He’s like a less talented modern day Ronnie Garvin. The only Kennedy moment I ever liked was in OVW, where he joined Johnny Jeter in beating down Matt Cappotelli, then beat a hasty retreat in his car, screaming "RETREAT!!! RETREAT!!! MISTERRRRR KENNEDY!!!!" as the car drove off. Then drove back in long enough for him to scream "KENNNNNN-EEEEHHH-DEEEEHHHHHH!!!!" before it drove off again. And that's pretty much it for him with me.

Hahahaha. I voted for Kennedy. Yes, I know he's made some boneheaded mistakes over the years, but I liked Kennedy in WWE and early TNA 2010. The first ever time I saw Kennedy on the screen it was clear to me: this guy had Austin and Rock levels of charisma. And in an era with a better writing staff I believe Kennedy would have WAY more potential than Cody. Don't get me wrong, I've always thought Cody was a talented upper-card heel or face. I just feel like Kennedy destroyed him in the charisma department. Unpopular opinion obviously.

I hate polls that have the one person vote for them without saying why. Although now that you brought attention to it, I can see the Mr. Kennedy fans coming out to defend him.

If we're talking just strictly WWE career than Cody has had the better one. I've always like Kennedy a lot more than Cody though. I still to this day think if it wasn't for Kennedy getting injuries & screwing up he could have been a main event star for a few years. I thought Cody was talented but never saw him as a main event caliber star. I think he's quite a bit overrated.

Cody by a mile. He tried everything he could to get Stardust over. He’s done great in ROH & can wrestle consistently without injuring himself.

I don`t understand this narritive some people try to pass that Cody is not good.
Overrated in the indies/overpushed?Sure you can argue that. I really enjoyed Kennedy in WWE.But Dashing/Grotesque Cody Rhodes was just too good

I really enjoyed Kennedy in WWE.But Dashing/Grotesque Cody Rhodes was just too good I think it's more along the lines the people see him as a guy who is above average/solid in everything but he has had the success of Legendary Indie God status and it's really puzzling especially during this second wave of The Indie Boom. Like during the first indie boom around 2004-2006 your top 3 kings were CM Punk, Samoa Joe, and Bryan Danielson. Now Cody Rhodes is possibly in top 3 status and his weakest skills is his wrestling but he continues to draw to during the hottest period despite having some really disappointing matches with some of the top talent like Okada, Minoru Suzuki, Chris Hero, Christopher Daniels, etc. Plus some people soured on him his constant shots towards The WWE. I get why Cody Rhodes has that chip and that he is certainly carrying that chip to his success. He was flatout told by HHH he was never going to be a main event guy and he's certainly proving HHH/Vince/WWE wrong. But wrestlers constantly moaning about the past is pretty frowned upon. Plus there is the whole thing his whole reason of success is just being booked everywhere and surrounding himself with top talent and milking the hell out of Bullet Club.

I only ever liked Cody as Stardust really. He showed a lot of ranger there...and his white meat baby 2007 run at start he was a nice addition to a style roster but other than that he was boring. Kennedy could have gone places. He put on decent matches with Taker and HBK and could of been something if he was less injury prone.

Did anyone notice the common demonator with them?
Triple H didn't really like either guy. So there goes your chances.
Shame.

Kennedy had the higher peak in WWE, would've been World Champ if he didn't get that mis diagnosis. Then would've been Vince's son if he didn't f*** it up.
I like Cody better overall though and voted for him. And I actually like Kennedy (pre TNA run) unlike most people on internet wrestling forums
