That's absolute bollocks, there's an obvious pop when his music hits.

He's a member of British Strong Style, he's basically dominated the UK scene with them for the past year, and he's wrestled on the UK scene since 2007. Just a hunch, but I think they may have heard of him.

It's kind of amazing how much wrestling fans put Dave Meltzer on such a high pedestal.
Like shit a poster at FAN could have the same opinion that the crowd didn't know who Dunne is and wouldn't receive such projected scorn and attention.

There are things you could genuinely say about Meltzer that are criticisms of his work and how he conducts business.
This feels not so much as a stretch as a marathon. Like, I get the view but...misunderstanding a crowd doesn’t seem like something to tear into him for when there are people who thought Jinder was a great champ because Styles got a massive cheer when he beat him.

The average FAN poster doesn't have a podcast and charge people for their 'inside knowledge'.

Even if it were true, which it obviously isn't since they popped huge when his music hit, how the hell would Meltzer know that? Did he interview every single person in that arena?

I just find it more hilarious how he interrupts Alvarez to 'correct' him about the pop when he's the one who's wrong. I don't really have an opinion on Meltzer one way or the other, but there's something very amusing about how matter of fact he states it.

Silly opinion considering there is clearly HD video of the crowd popping the moment his music hit. But once again he's a reporter where fans really should put the pedestal on him, opinions second.

Yeah... this isn't even really up for debate, the crowd popped when his music hit. If they didn't know who he was they must have REALLY loved that song. Still it's a minor mistake on a live podcast where Meltzer stammers more than Matt Morgan. It was a very forgettable segment where Enzo at this point cut the worst promo of his career with a really dead crowd. It was very long drawn out forgettable boring segment. I was grilling steaks during that promo and listened a chunk of it through the kitchen. For a guy who is required to watch all the wrestling and talk about it for a living, this is the moment where you zone out on the job like a important boring mandatory early morning meeting.

I mean, it's tough to be a "reliable" journalist in a medium where plans can change at a moment's notice and then you have people claiming "Newz" as if the reported plans weren't legit at the time they were reported, but I'd definitely say Dave Meltzer is the best we've got. Not that others aren't right and not even that Meltzer himself is right all the time either, but we've only got a few decent inside guys.
That said, Pete Dunne definitely had a pop before he came out. Like, that's just wrong to claim otherwise.

To play devils advocate here, while it wasn't the raw taping, a few people around me at the Birmingham house show wasn't aware of who he was. I would assume the attendance of a t.v. taping over here though would consist of a larger percentage of the hardcore fanbase so Meltzers quote wouldn't make much sense on paper.
