Watching 205 Love right now, I was thinking how great the Cruiserweight’s have been and it made me wonder if the division as a whole could be elevated to main event status.
Like, we’ve had Women’s Division matches and Tag Team matches main event pay per views. Could the Cruiserweight Division get to the point where they could be main eventing pay per views? Could Jack Gallagher vs. Cedric Alexander be a PPV main event one day? In UFC, there’s main event stars in each division, not just heavyweight. Why not here, too? If Charlotte vs Becky or New Day vs. Shield can be seen as main event caliber, why not Enzo vs. Hideo Itami?
I’m of course not talking where they’re at not. Obviously it’ll take work to get the fans to accept that these guys are on par with WWE title matches.
Also, seeing Jack Gallagher come out with his evil music and umbrella really made me think that if Marty Scurll ever signed with WWE, I’d really love to see them tag or feud. I don’t wanna see Scurll fight Baron Corbin or Jason Jordan, I wanna see him with the Cruiserweights.
Maybe if Neville was still around, he could cross over. Beat Seth Rollins or Dean Ambrose while still chasing the Cruiserweight title. It’d make the belt seem like a big deal. Maybe even Cruiserweight Champ Neville vs. WWE Champ AJ Styles title for title. Neville wins and defends both. Then you have Cedric or someone beat him for the Cruiserweight title and now they’re a huge deal. Or Seth could challenge for the Cruiserweight title. A big name like him going for the Cruiserweight title could really help the whole division. As long as he doesn’t steamroll them.

It could certainly happen, albeit probably not a major PPV. Still, it would require them gaining more traction with fans, as well as more commitment from WWE, the latter of which would probably help the former.

Maybe they could put something like Finn Balor vs. Hideo Itami in the Cruiserweight division, and that's how they get two guys over and credible enough to main event, but they aren't doing it with anyone actually on 205 Live right now.

If the belt was black and gold I'd instantly take it 300% more seriously.

I think I just really hate silver titles. The shade of purple looks bad too but I probably wouldn't mind as much if it was gold (like I know how the WWF title had some wacky colours in the Ultimate Warrior era and I didn't care). I saw this photoshop and thought it looked awesome.

A big name like him going for the Cruiserweight title could really help the whole division. As long as he doesn’t steamroll them. No. And to be honest, there's no reason to. Women's matches were only put in the main event because it was a sign of women being taken more seriously. Tag Team matches will only main event depending on the participants; a WWE main roster PPV would never be main evented by a tag match unless one or more of the top heavyweight contenders were participating in it. There's no reason to elevate the Cruiserweight Division simply because any singles wrestler who is over and talented enough to be in the main event will just simply not be in the Cruiserweight Division in the first place. Charlotte vs. Becky is seen as main event caliber because REVOLUTION and HISTORY and all that. New Day vs. The Shield is seen as main event caliber solely on the Shield's part, because The Shield are pretty much the top guys in the company period. Enzo Amore should not be main eventing when The Shield, Braun Strowman, The Miz, Finn Balor and even Bray Wyatt are all on the payroll. A big name going for the Cruiserweight Title pretty much HAS to steamroll the division. If they're good enough to beat Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, then they should.

Wouldn't mind if they had a Cruiserweight Classic tournament tweaked to be more like the G1 Climax, starting, I dunno, after Wrestlemania and the winner gets a shot at the title at Summerslam every year.

Yes I think it can be elevated. My idea has always been to have a babyface (Swann, Tozawa, Ali, Alexander) hold the title and get involved in a feud vs. an upper midcard/main event level heavyweight like Joe. Or do a Champion vs. Champion match involving Miz and have Miz lose clean. Guys like Miz could easily recover anyway.

If they're not willing to let cruisers convincingly beat the heavyweights on a regular basis, then no, the division can't be elevated.
And if they're convincingly beating the heavies on the reg, then there's no need for a division.

Not without more integration (and clean wins) among the heavyweights here and there. Other companies treat their light/junior divisions as being either equal or close to the heavyweights in power levels, but WWE's presentation of their Cruiserweights make them come off like a little kids ' table. Guys like Miz shouldn't be calling them a demotion.

You could technically argue that they have been the main event since Enzo showed up. Granted, I wouldn't call it a serious main event and certainly doesn't have the main event feel...but they're on last.
I feel that the presentation is the real problem. From the awesome Cruiserweight Classic, we now have an other bland WWE product (despite the potential of that roster) with corny storylines and nonsensical turns. They are just WWE light and there is nothing to set it apart from the rest of the shows outside of purple ropes. Almost anything that makes the cruiserweights unique is being replicated on the main shows regardless of the weight class (...dive) and don't have the luxury of "changing the face of the business" like the women do. As of this point, the best chance for it to be taken seriously, would've been Aries v. Neville...and we've seen how that turned out.

I feel like the only way to do it would be to make that the roster split. RAW is the heavyweight division and SmackDown is the cruiserweight. The weight limit should also be somewhat higher so guys like Rollins, Balor and Styles were in it. There's really nothing that exciting about the cruiserweights when some of the "heavyweights" are just as if not more exciting, and seemingly don't compete as cruiserweights just because they don't want to.
I don't think they would ever do it because of how much it would limit them storyline wise but I feel like if it wasn't going to be something like that there's no point to even have a cruiserweight division.

whenever they get momentum they'll have Kane/ Braun etc squash a smaller guy. Boxing and MMA successfully market smaller guys all the time

I saw this photoshop and thought it looked awesome. 1. THIS belt. 2. Film 205 BEFORE Raw or Smackdown instead of after so you don’t have a ha,f empty arena with dead audience 3. More interaction with the main roster like what has been done. CW’s pairing up with divas. Main roster stars who are in the weight limit taking part-Finn Balor, Xavier Woods, and Itami being the obvious choices 4. Try having a few veteran cruiserweight talents put in occasional appearances. See what Shane Helms, Scotty 2 Hotty, or Psichosis are up to. And when the time comes Rey Mysterio to do the passing of the torch is a must.

Mingle with the main Roster more. Tozawa/Crews and Swann/Cedric could also compete in the Tag Ranks, Woods apears and he tries his hand in the CW Division

Would anybody be against veteran legends in the division?
Juventud Super Crazy Psychosis Jushin Liger Shannon Moore Shane Helms Chavo Guererro
Seems like they just need some established veterans to mesh with the current crop of stars.
