Bigger ratings wise? Pretty sure FG beats even Simpsons these days doesn't it?

I know Simpsons is the biggest. I'm just comparing South Park and Family Guy, which are right behind Simpsons.
And by biggest, I mean ratings, popularity, relevance, etc etc

I personally find South Park to be more watchable (even in hindsight/retrospect), but I'm pretty sure Family Guy has the bigger fanbase.

South Park was a huge deal for a short while in the late 90s, to the point where they made a film that was a big success. It also crossed over into the mainstream in more areas, such as reaching #1 in the UK singles charts. A lot of the coverage may have been due to controversy but as Family Guy has never really had that coverage (even if some of that is down to it being released in a different time) I’d say South Park wins this one.

While it's not my cup of tea, South Park remains consistently funny. They haven't lost a step at all. FG is still just one interchangeable joke after another with no real relevance to the overall plot of the show. It's basically become what critics have been accusing it of for years.

I think South Park made the bigger impact on it's debut.. By all means correct me if I'm wrong here but I think it took Family a little while to get it's big following.
But I think nowadays Family Guy is probably the better known.
Personally I will take South Park anyday..
I find Family Guy very hit and miss.. It can be great, can even be hilarious at times.. But then there are those times where it just feels like it's trying to hard.
Just my personal view mind you.

I'm going with South Park based on longevity, having produced a successful movie, 2 particularly successful video games ( I'm aware there's been more than 2 games but those are pretty well overshadowed), impact on pop culture, and the fact that it's been carrying Comedy Central on its back for years IMO. Whereas Fox is network television with a much larger viewing audience it doesn't fall back on Family Guy like Comedy Central does South Park. That counts for something.

South Park was on the cover of Rolling Stone, when being on the cover of Rolling Stone mattered.

But then there are those times where it just feels like it's trying to hard. Just my personal view mind you. Yes, South Park was a cultural phenomenon at the time. People lobbied hard to get Comedy Central on basic cable (which definitely helped them, they grew leaps and bounds in a small amount of time as a network) just to see what the fuss was about. I originally had to get South Park VHS because our cable company didn't offer it. It was so bad, but much like Raw at the time, it pushed the boundaries and that was hot at the time. They had ridiculous merch as well and were a cash cow from shortly after they started. Meanwhile Family Guy grew 10x more after the cancellation of the show through DVDs, much like Futurama, that is was brought back. South Park was way, way bigger in it's infancy than FG. And given it's longevity and quality over time, I think it's pretty much the better and bigger show IMO. FG had very high highs in terms of comedy that maybe even South Park couldn't touch, but was overall way more grating, inconsistent, disposable, and somehow even more preachy. Edit: Looked it up to see if I was remembering wrong, but nope.

I think South Park will linger more in people's minds. Heck, people still know the "OMG, they killed Kenny!" bit even though it's been years since they last used it. And I think in the end it will be the show that will age better, since its humor isn't just "cut to random randomness" as most of Family Guy devolved into.

South Park.
It's done a better job of being consistently good while sticking to it's core roots.
