Okay, we all know it long surpassed the Flinstones as the longest-running prime time animated show. But has it passed up Gunsmoke or the Waltons? What are the records the show needs to and could actually break before ending in the next couple years?

- Sideshow Bob vs Sideshow Mel!!! I've often thought this would be a great idea for an episode in its own right.

Is RAW the longest running show? I think Cornation Street is. It's been on 40 years.

It should end with a "Newhart" ending. Showing Tracey Ullman waking up from a dream and then ending with the credits/music from The Tracey Ullman show.

It should end with a "Newhart" ending. Showing Tracey Ullman waking up from a dream and then ending with the credits/music from The Tracey Ullman show. That would be brilliant. And even if they didn't go with this exactly, it would be just like Groening to go out with a spoof of some other famous tv ending. Just as long as it's not the proverbial "people sell the house and, in the last scene, exit the front door for the last time." Also, it needs to be at least an hour long. Even the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" episodes should have been longer than 30 minutes each, but that didn't happen.

Simpsons is the longest running Prime Time show. It surpassed the old leader, "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriett", which lasted 14 seasons. Raw is Crap has lasted only 13 years so far.

I always figured it would end with a running gag of some sort... Like, they all go to watch TV, cue intro style run into the living room, and nothing... That's right, with all of the intro gags, they just flop onto the couch to watch TV... Homer turns on the TV and that cheesy FOX promo starts "This Sunday on FOX!, The Bransons!" Homer groans loudly "This show's still on?!" cut to end credits... That would be great. Edit: Also, finally revealing where Springfield is would be cool, too. They already revealed where Springfield is. You just need to pay attention. It was in one of my three favorite episodes of all time. RD

And Raw is nowhere near Gunsmoke...nor Saturday Night Wrestling on TBS, but we probably shouldn't mention that. RD

I'm an ex-Simpson's fan and a current Family Guy fan. Personally, I think that the Simpsons (if it were to ever end) would try to end on a high and funny note... Not a complete bash on a show, who's creators have basically stated that they try to get along with the Simpson creators but it's the Simpson guys that can't even be civil.

They already revealed where Springfield is. You just need to pay attention. It was in one of my three favorite episodes of all time. RD Care to be more vague? I think there was an episode where superintendant chalmers is talking to Skinner while looking out at the school playground. Chalmers: "this used to be the most dilapidated school in the state of Missouri" Skinner: (gasps) Chalmers: "...until we fixed it up and moved it here."

I also agree that the movie will be the end. And if they want to get emotional, they could have Grampa die. That would make me cry for years...I love Grampa.

It was in one of my three favorite episodes of all time. RD Actually, that's not quite true RD. While they did give a state name, the state name was changed for regional broadcasts. So again, several different state names have been given. No 100% answer yet.
