Working for WWE in General
His first project was working with the Social Outcasts and he had a blast doing it.
He didn’t know he was supposed to be afraid of VKM and didn’t realize that he was until about a month in. He would treat him like a normal person.
There was a moment backstage where Jacobs saw McMahon and Jericho pointing at him from a distance, and it turns out VKM was making fun of Jacobs’ posture and the way he stands. McMahon asked Jericho to do it on-air one night for heel heat.
Jericho admired how Jacobs would act out the promo he wrote for the talent, and not just hand the talent a script and say “Go with it.” “Unless you see my vision, they’re just words on a piece of paper… and you won’t like those words.”
Jacobs isn’t confident that VKM thought he was a good writer. He wanted to be judged by the content of his work, and not the color of his tie. He doesn’t feel like that was the case with VKM. (He mentioned earlier how his fashion and use of man-purses may have put VKM off a bit.) “If I did good enough, I’d still be working there.”
Jacobs questions whether his fashion got him in the dog house, and that he was trying to put himself over as a character behind the scenes instead of flying under the radar.
The one time VKM complemented Jacobs, it’s when he wrote a gossip segment for Adam Rose. The 2nd week he wrote it, VKM reads it and asked Jacobs “who wrote this?” Jacobs admits it was him and VKM responds, “Very good stuff.
Very good!”
Jacobs understands why Kevin Dunn is so “testy”. He’s got a high-pressure job and “he’s very good at it. I always got along with Kevin.”
Jacobs says that Vince was REALLY excited about 205 Live when it first started. He thinks they’re moving in the right direction with Hideo Itami and Enzo Amore being on the show.
Working with Chris Jericho
The inspiration for “The List of Jericho” came from an actual list Steve Corino keeps called the “Corino Shit List”. He goes on to say, “What if there’s this list like Corino’s shit list where he writes down people that piss him off, but Jericho is so petty EVERYBODY pisses him off?”
Jericho got to use the list simply because VKM wasn’t in the arena that night.
Jacobs is the one who convinced Ambrose to call the plant “Mitch”. Jericho didn’t like “Mitch” the plant because fans were so sad about Mitch dying that they didn’t care about the spot where he smashed the pot over Ambrose’s head.
Departure from WWE
Opiates had Jacobs “by the balls”. Instead of flying to Payback, he chose to fly to a rehab facility in Texas. In the 30 days he spent in rehab, he didn’t miss WWE or wrestling at all. A lot of the things that were once important weren’t important anymore. WWE was one of those things; It was no longer the mecca of sports-entertainment. He missed wrestling, and he didn’t want to wear a suit and tie.
On Bullet Club Picture: “I wasn’t trying to get fired, but I wasn’t trying not to get fired.” The thought of getting fired over the incident was almost exilherating.
He has ZERO bitter feelings. “The past six weeks have been the time of my life.”
