Nah, needs to keep the geographical theme. First 'Park' then "World" and then Jurassic Universe So we're going to get Gem Dinosaurs, who fuse together to form more powerful dinosaurs? And they break out into song? And cry. But anyway, this movie was blah. Really did nothing for me. First JP was the best, followed by JW1.

1.JA Bayona's direction was flawless. He understands completely how to create tension and make a compelling movie with monsters. If he were to take the helm of Man of Steel 2(as one rumor states), then the movie will be in perfect shape. I love Bayona. I think he's one of the most underrated visual directors out there right now. Don't believe me? Check out The Orphanage or A Monster Calls.
2.Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly's screenplay was....... decent. It did a good job of bringing up the themes of Crichton's themes and giving Bayona enough room to show what he can do. It also brings more empathy to the dinosaurs themselves than Jurassic World did. Especially in terms of Blue and a specific scene with one Brachiosaur being left behind to cry out for help as the volcano eruption consumes him. Heartbreaking. Not many dry eyes during that moment in the theater.
3.Now comes the biggest negative: the human characters. They sucked. Every one of them were annoying. Owen and Claire didn't develop an iota in the movie. The two from the charity? Awful. Annoying as all get out. Especially Franklin. Who I genuinly think is the worst character in cinema of 2018. The villans? Utterly cartoony and one-dimensional(There's literally a bearded Russian guy during the auction who scowls and yells "20 MILLIONZ" at one point in the most groan-worthy scene in the movie.) Maisie was the only character I cared about and that's because her story tied into the theme of the movie. She was also the cause of the most heart-warming scene in the movie. But other than that, awful characters.
Would I recommend it? Sure. It's a good time and it's made with passion. However, I genuinely don't think Trevorrow knows how to write compelling characters. He can do everything else Spielberg can, except write interesting characters. Overall, it's about 6.5. maybe 7, out of 10.
Fellow audience members? Flat zero. Worst movie going audience I've been with since Dawn of The Planet of The Apes. You're not at home. Please just shut your gobs already!

Haven't seen it yet, but here's my contribution to the thread.
My buddy texts me today to tell me he took his daughter to see it. I believe she's 6. There's an older couple seated next to her. He can see they are whispering back and forth about her being there and finally one of them says to her, "You must be very brave to see this movie" She says, "Dinosaurs are extinct. Don't worry, my dad is here if you get scared".
Which is one of the funniest things I've heard in a long while.

The first one was definitely more visually interesting (maybe I'm just a sucker for theme park aesthetics), but I think I liked the overall movie more this time around. There are some wonderful shots in this one, too. They're both absurdly dumb at times, but I find these movies easy enough to just enjoy. They did a great job getting you to empathize with these creatures who were brought back to life in a world they didn't belong in. I like all the conflicting moral dilemmas presented. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I hope this concludes Blue/Owen's story, because I felt her choosing to be free despite her lifelong connection to Owen was the right move. God only knows how they explain Jurassic Park in Las Vegas next. Damn near got nauseous in IMAX during that spiraling rooftop shot, haha.

Finally saw the movie. Really enjoyed it and enjoyed the direction they went with the franchise. I’d give it an 8/10.
I like how this was more action oriented but felt it stayed true to the story. I’m a big Godzilla fan so I am a big fan of monster movies. Really love the idea of a true Jurassic World. Well directed and fun movie. Will watch again.
I understand it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I loved it.
Looking forward to part 3.

I liked it but I’d put it third behind Jurassic Park and Jurassic World.

I liked it but I’d put it third behind Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. I think I'd actually put The Lost World third at this point, maybe even second. But for Vince Vaughn, the first half of that one is gangbusters. Probably the most dinosaur heavy stretch of any of the films and the idea that the dinosaurs have pretty much been left alone to become wild on the second island was really well done. Plus, Pete Postlewaithe is incredible. It's too long and they don't really do much with the T-Rex in San Diego other than some Godzilla-lite action (seriously, they really always just sort of glossed over the public's reaction to discovering someone has brought back dinosaurs. That's a whole District 9-style movie in itself) but I'd put it way over JP III and this last one.

Roland Tembo is my all time favourite JP character. The man was brilliant. And Ken Wheatley was like his polar opposite.

Saw it over the weekend. Enjoyed it.
Wish they’d lose the cartoonish super villainry though.

Roland Tembo is my all time favourite JP character. The man was brilliant. It’s a damn shame they cut his introduction scene. That would have been the perfect bow on his character. Of course said scene makes it firm and clear that he’s really not that bad of a guy, and oh no we can’t have that.

He had the insensitive remark about Eddie, that's about it. He ran a tight ship. He was a hunter, he told Ludlow to keep his money, he just wanted to hunt the rex. He quickly saw the disaster in what they were trying to do, which is why he told Ludlow to f*** off when he offered him a job.

I want to see this. I really do. But my fear is that it’s just a remake of Thr Lost World: Jurassic Park. Am I right or am I wrong?

Tembo was the best written character in that whole movie... not that that's saying much.

It wasn't awful, but definitely wasn't a high point in the series to me. I liked most of the other movies in the series better.
It had some interesting ideas, but a Chris Pratt action movie was not really the best route to go to me. It sort of went away from the man vs. nature and the "nature will find a way" themes and went to "humans are objectively evil and this is how they'd ruin this."

I thought the Indoraptor was a step down from the Indominus Rex as far as dinosaur antagonists go.
