They both helped each other a lot. Brock got major cred for destroying Taker, and before feuding with Brock, he was having shit match after shit match. I think his feud with Lesnar forced the Undertaker to evolve and get better.

Great feud. IMO, Heyman, Taker and Big Show really developed Lesnar into a star.

I remember two little controversies/rumors from their 2002 matches.
One story goes that Lesnar was originally supposed to win via shenanigans at Unforgiven but Undertaker politicked and had it changed to a DQ finish with him standing tall.
Then at No Mercy there was heat on Lesnar when he sprinted up the cell immediately after the match at No Mercy without selling anything.

The feud did wonders for building Brock. People forget Brock had a lot of heat because of how quickly he was pushed up the card. We knew he was a top prospect, but seeing him squashing everyone and becoming champ after four months was a bit too much.
Brock did feud with Hogan and Rock, but the respective baggage of both meant Brock still had question marks around him. The Taker feud answered those questions and showed he was the real deal.

The Hell in a Cell at No Mercy 2002 is a fun, brutal match.
