Not my cup of tea, but kinda shit to see this happen to Cena.

Not the smartest choice opening with the biggest hype film of the year.

They opened the same weekend as a Star Wars movie. What did they expect?

"He can't break into Hollywood yall." No lie, I'd love for Cena to show up on RAW and for Roman to just go "Hey, look, Daddy's Home! [beat] 2!"

When I asked my kids (9&8) do you want to see Ferdinand if Star Wars was completely sold out or too hard to get tickets for the right times, they both looked at me with a combination of confusion and derision and said nothing.

Not a wise choice from the producers pitting Ferdinand on the same weekend as WWE's Clash of Champions and some space movie.

Going up against a Star Wars film and expecting a great box office is like betting on a baby to win a slam dunk contest. You're throwing money away when you really didn't need to.

Like everyone else said, who the f*** thought it was a good idea going against Star Wars?!?! Like, that is just a recipe for failure. Were they that confident they'd succeed entirely based on "Well, Star Wars is sold out, guess we'll go see the bull movie?"

Well you couldn't see him so...
Not that that's stopped Cena before.

Yea, whoever put this movie the week/month of Star Wars coming out deserves to be fired
From the reviews i've seen it isn't a bad movie, just doesn't have the "heart" you expect from an animated movie but it's been described as okay

All comments aside I doubt this movie will tank Cena's acting career in any fashion. Kate McKinnon is also in this and she's a way bigger star and nobody is talking about how it's going to hurt her. It's an animated film with dubious timing and little marketing. It received plenty of good reviews and probably would have done much better if it was released on...well any other day except for when Star Wars came out.

I figured it would bomb. Outside of WWE, the studio didn't try to hype Cena being in the film (it's never mentioned in any of the trailers I saw ran in theaters or in the TV spots I saw for it outside of WWE programming). You would think you would do that to get more turn out.
Then they decided to debut it the same weekend as the biggest movie of the year in Last Jedi and right after a guaranteed animated hit about Mexican culture in Coco (I'm aware Spain is not the same thing before someone brings that up), which cut into the same market as them.

I saw a good amount of commercials for it and they had Cena did some TV spots for Cartoonetwork
