Note: I'm counting in-ring actions only. So, no Hogan/Gawker, Snuka (even though he's deceased) etc.
I just got to thinking - some of the biggest heels of yesteryear, like when Piper came back in WWE, Ric Flair today, etc. couldn't get booed in a ring if they kicked a puppy and insulted the local sports team.
Any legends that could theoretically still get the big heel reactions?

Slaughter heeled on Canada one time when he was the guest GM and got some heat. It's possible but unlikely.

HBK was able to get booed for betraying Daniel Bryan, so it's certainly possible, if difficult.

I'm certain Batista could do it, but some of the boos would be "I like Batista as a heel therefore I will boo him to show my support" boos.

Piper got some nice "go away heat" and what chants when he was intoxicated on Piper's Pit. Ric Flair can be pretty obnoxious sometimes, too; he could probably get some good heat. People who have really stayed away, or had been kept away like Jake Roberts, would be too much of a novelty to get booed if they returned, though.

Does the Rock being booed for supporting Roman Reigns count?

Yeah definitely. They just have to be booked properly.

Does the Rock being booed for supporting Roman Reigns count? Haha I was thinking that too. Just have whoever is returning endorse Roman Reigns in a smark city.

Not really “Heat”, but Rey mysterio jr could come back, save a small child, cure a disease, and help an elderly woman across the street. And I still wouldnt cheer for him.

I felt similarly, but didn't have any problem with him in Lucha Underground, probably because they didn't treat him as this plucky underdog and tell tired David and Goliath stories with him, but he's used as, well, a king. I think getting rid of the narrative that he's some up and comer despite being someone who has been popular for like 20 years and won a bunch of shit is what made him palatable for me, given I usually find him obnoxious in his WWE runs.

That was precisely my problem with him in the WWE. The underdog that was never booked as an underdog, and always back jumped the heel.... And don’t even get me started on the “doing it for Eddie” era.
