With ECW being so far in the past now it really does feel odd it's the same guy who ran ECW doing all the things he does now in WWE.
Being Brock Lesnar's advocate along with the Heyman hustle he has definitely evolved. But when you think Heyman, what comes to mind first?

Definitely as the advocate of Brock Lesnar. ECW is buried in the past. ECW doesn't get enough credit for giving a platform for light heavyweight and international workers who weren't getting much exposure in the mainstream but ultimately I think WCW quickly caught on and did a much better job of giving those guys that exposure. The bread and butter of ECW's content was still that gritty hardcore content that was solely a product of its time.
I would honestly put his work in the NWA ahead of ECW in terms of his legacy considering he managed the likes of Rick Rude, Steve Austin, and the Undertaker.

I loved ECW in its original heyday, but can't make it through a show if I try to watch on The Network now.

He’ll get EC-dub chants in certain smark cities, but that’s it. He’ll be forever remembered as Lesnar’s guy.

Put it this way...in 30 years or whenever Paul passes away, every article will start by mentioning him as the guy behind ECW.
Some of you guys have very short memories. He'll always be the ECW mastermind.

Honestly, when I see him now, what comes to mind is 'oh, this promo again'.

ECW's going to be a lot more talked about in a decade than, "Remember when Paul Heyman kept cutting the same promo every single week for like five years?"

Yeah. I love him with Brock but it's ECW. He's a great manager, one of the absolute best of all time. But ECW literally changed the wrestling landscape. Whether you liked it or not that is a far bigger impact than any manager could ever have.

ECW is what the WWE will push when talking about Heyman, so I'll go with that.

Ya know, I never really thought about it, but if you asked anybody younger than maybe 24-25, they might not even know of Paul Heyman pre-WWE.
I think the further removed from ECW that we get, that part of his identity will continue to become more and more secondary.

I saw this and was instantly wondering if he had brought back Penn Jillette's old game show.

I think the further removed from ECW that we get, that part of his identity will continue to become more and more secondary. This is what I was trying to say. As the years go on, I think he will be mentioned more as Brock's advocate and the manager of the guy who ENDED THE STREAK. In WWE history, THE STREAK >>>>>>>>>>>>> ECW. We all know that and you can't teach that. So shedding the image of ECW is something I can see WWE doing.
