It's being reported that the voice of college football, Keith Jackson has passed away.
Rest in Peace, Mr Jackson. But have no fear, your voice will live on forever.
For anybody who has never heard him call a game, watch the USC vs Texas Rose Bowl. Nobody today can come close to Keith, Gus Johnson is good, but he's got nothing on Keith Jackson. His calls are immortal, he was the one who started calling the Rose Bowl the "Granddaddy of them all", and he was the first to call Ann Arbor the Big House. He will always rightfully be the voice of college football.

Jackson was THE best, no doubt about it in my mind. A lot of my childhood was spent on Saturdays watching Keith doing college football.
"Trying to move the ball against Miami is like climbin' a cactus"
"I think I just heard the door shut"
And my favorite was
"IIIIIIIIIIT'S TOUCHDOWN!!!"
RIP

He was also on the first season of Monday Night Football. Two legendary sports broadcasters dying really close to each other. RIP Keith.

First Enberg, now Jackson. These guys narrated my favorite football memories growing up. They were for my money the two best football PBP men ever (with all due respect to Michaels). To anyone who followed college football seriously, Keith Jackson was a big deal and we are not likely to see a talent of his caliber in the sport in this lifetime.

Keith Jackson is the reason I got into sports broadcasting. I grew up listening to him call college football games on ABC and I loved when he called the game I was watching. Along with Pat Summerall, they were the soundtrack of football in my childhood. Both my announcing heroes are gone now and they will never be forgotten. Prayers to Keith’s family and friends at this time. Whoa Nellie and thank you for the memories.
