so it got the honest game trailer treatment either they rushed to get the video done, or they just didn't have much to go after in the game. The game is like 30 hours for the story I believe

I'm guessing I'm in the vast minority but I'm really not feeling this game at all. It's just so boring.

I don't want to say it's overrated, as it's all subjective. But I actually loved the mindlessness of the original games, just stringing together these insane combos in big set pieces. I'm still hitting Square in the middle of fights, that control scheme was so well done in the originals. When I think of God of War, I don't think of 3 button prompts to get a kid to quit moping about killing a guy to lower a chain.
So I don't like the combat and babysitting the kid is just falling completely flat with me. I'm going to keep trying but I'm just staring blankly at my TV where I used to be thinking "Oh shit!!" every ten minutes with this series.

I thought having Atreus around would suck, but the little bastard's arrows have saved my ass in many a fight.

This definitely isn’t the God of War that I remember. It might be because i replayed the previous games before this. I’ll still get through this, but it’ll take some time.

It may be because I’m trying to open it at work, but I’m not able to get the link to open. So, not being able to read it, yet, I never saw Atreus as one that needed escorting, but a full partner on the journey in his own right.

I like that he's instrumental in everything you do He's a little below Ellie for me as far as NPC characters just because I cared about her more but he was very useful and his character progression is more than I expected

Never got too far in that to judge her. It was my brother’s game, and then he moved, so it went with him.

End game spoiler thoughts {Spoiler} Well, f*** the rumor about Atreus being Loki was true. This secret ending with Thor tho was f***ing fire. Years later with Atreus still being a kid made me laugh but yeah if he's the boss next game that's going to be fun.
Also I can see Freya being a f**ing pain and a half moving forward throughout the whole series. It's going to be nasty once she gets her wings back but as of right now she can't hurt us due to the spell.
Seeing Ragnarok throughout the series is going to be crazy as well. Also if we go by legend and some vague hints in the game then Jörmungandr is Atreus son so I wonder how much they dive into the time travel aspect as a paradox is created thanks to Jörmungandr teaching his own father the dead language and it getting taught to him
A lot of good shit to look forward to in this series moving forward

{Spoiler}I would not be at all surprised if Atreus slowly becomes the player character over the course of the next few games.
Especially with him being Loki. In Norse Mythology, it is Loki that kickstarts Ragnarök (which is something the MCU did as well, now that I’m thinking about it.

Children killing parents in regards to the Gods is something Kratos wants to end and it will be interesting to see how their relationship keeps forming. I doubt they will have Atreus kill Kratos but it will be interesting to see how his mind develops and if they give him the mischievous traits associated with Loki
I would like to see Loki continue to get older and how he interacts with the Gods. As I said Freya will be a big presence and I do wonder if she will crawl back to Odin in a sense to curry his favor. She obviously still wants to hurt Odin and will be using him but her vengeance to take down Kratos may overtake that.
Since we know Atreus is half giant the vision he had of Thor will come true so I wonder if that's how they possibly start the second game. One would think they already have a plot in mind to even tease that at the end of this current game

{Spoiler}I don’t think that’d have Atreus kill Kratos. The Prophecy tapestry they found in Jotunheim looked like Atreus was mourning over Kratos. I think that is what kicks off Ragnarök.
I do expect the Thor scene to show up in the sequel, but I don’t think it’ll play out exactly the same way it did at the end. Continuing the game after it has Kratos and Atreus in their cabin with dialogue that heavily implies it was a vision.

Continuing the game after it has Kratos and Atreus in their cabin with dialogue that heavily implies it was a vision. {Spoiler} Correct. Atreus said that it was a dream to him and so far with Giants we've seen that their dreams or visions are usually telling signs to the future of how it play out. Now we can knit pick since he's only half giant and that may not mean he's all the way correct but as you said Thor will show up regardless
Also, Ragnarok is already started. The killing of Baldur put it into motion. Faye was destined to return home at the start of Ragnarok and you can say she technically did with her ashes being spread back. Sindri and Brok also mention preparing for the winter which Mimir said it last 3 summers and even though Ragnarok wasn't supposed to start for a few hundred years the death of Baldur and Kratos presence has jump started that process
Ares death resembled the fall of the greek gods while Baldur death in the game and in legend if i'm not mistaken is supposed to signal Ragnarok which is the end of the Norse gods
