That's two big NJPW matches in a row now that Matt got me biting on possibly being legit injured, but man was it ever about more than just that.
First off, in the match with RP3K it played nicely into their story; I wasn't keen on the Bucks winning the straps and then dropping them so quickly, but the story made sense that the more experienced Bucks knew how to weather an injury like that better than RP3K could, as Yoh couldn't hold out with his back hurting as well, and now in the rematch Rocky got the boys on point and had them better prepared to take advantage of Matt's injury by copying the spot he himself did on the Bucks at WK 11.
Secondly, Matt adjusting his in-ring movements to show he was hurting was beautiful, especially when he couldn't do the handspring backflip with Nick to set up the double dropkick spot and just had to walk backwards. Add in Matt desperately wanting to win with the Sharpshooter, but Yoh betting on just being able to hold on long enough that he could outlast the injured man, leading to Matt having to let go of the hold because of how badly he was hurting himself.
But the coup de grace: Matt doesn't corner Kenny in the main event, instead gets attended to backstage only to appear later and, in a case of Chekov's Back, get tossed down by a distracted Kenny and provide a good storyline reason why the Bucks wouldn't be there to save Kenny from Cody and Hangman's attack. </chef kiss>
God's sake, One Sweet this man's spine.

He played it so well. When he didn’t come out with Omega I thought it was legit. All throughout the ending confrontation I was wondering where he was which compounded it, only for him to get throw down and add more heat to the fire.
Perfection. Not bad for a pair of apparent spot monkeys
