Keller/Mitchell: New Day pancakes gimmick and racist history

Wade Keller and Bruce Mitchell had quite the enlightening conversaion about the New Day's current gimmick, with Mitchell citing past racist culture to explain why the pancakes are a juxtaposition for a publicly traded company that paints itself as celebrating MLK and Black History Month.

I'm almost positive it's their idea given most of the gimmick seems to be and, really, just about everything has some degree of racist baggage to it. Provided it's not something that really notably carries that kind of connotation now, like if post-match Xavier were doing the DiBiase money in the mouth spot but with chicken legs, I really don't see the issue.

So yeah, I'm calling massive reach on this one.

Granted the pancake thing is stupid and not remotely funny.

I mean, there is probably something to it because there is underlining stuff with a lot of things (a shocking amount) but at the same time...as a white guy, I’d rather hear about this from an actual black person and their view. Because outside of saying the N word or having something be based off the idea of making black people look inferior...well, it makes more sense if a black person was on the panel to give their perspective.

I don't think the food itself has a racist connection. I think the amount of pancakes and the stupid things they do with them is sort of racist. The stuff they do is the type of crap they would make Kamala would do.
