You guys act like this is torture as a WWE fan I love this and will gladly watch every minute of every PPV and Takeover ( I don't watch the weekly shows anymore anyway) If I can easily survive and enjoy 5 hours of my job then as a WWE fan I can very much enjoy 5 hours of a PPV....Live or through the archive.

I love wrestling but, that's just too long. It just is. There aren't enough compelling programs and feuds to fill that time.

To each their own I guess, most PPVs to me are not really worth watching from start to finish outside of the Big 4, so I'll probably end up just waiting till the next day and skip to the parts that interest me as I have to get up early for work on Mondays.

Reducing PPV quantity to a dozen definitely helps since a 5th Takeover is now permanent on MITB weekend. I don't hate this as much as a week ago.

I skip stuff I'm not interested in anyway because I never get to watch live. I'm fine with this. At least I get to see my favourite guys every month.
Probably better for the drawing power of the shows at first, then will kill everything and the crowds won't care by the third from last match at the latest.

WrestleMania 34 – April 8, 2018
Backlash – May 6, 2018
Money in the Bank – June 17, 2018
Extreme Rules – July 15, 2018
SummerSlam – Aug. 19, 2018
Hell in a Cell – Sept. 16, 2018
TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs – Oct. 21, 2018
Survivor Series – Nov. 18, 2018
Clash of Champions – Dec. 16, 2018
Look at that.
ONE PPV per month the rest of the way.
Talk about a lack of severe burnout.

Sure but if the shows are five hours then people who aren't really willing or able to watch five hour WWE PPVs then that's still an issue. Your snide comment ignores the actual problem people are talking about here.

This sounds awful. It takes away the point of the mega ppvs, hurts the undercards of both brands, and will produce super long events no one wants to watch. Is there even a positive for the fans?

This company always seems to think the solution to their problems, is just giving fans MORE!...of the same problems. Drug Empires are built entirely on this principle. At least they have a product people want.

We shouldn't have went back to dual-brand PPVs. Like, this is going to either be overkill, or we'll see talent continue to be pushed down as their storylines don't get on the PPV.
Like, I don't typically complain and will refrain from doing it online when it comes to the WWE product. But come on now... this is awful. They are seriously going to fail the brand extension once again.

The pre-show matches on dual-branded PPVs have generally been for acts I'm really into, like the cruiserweights or The Usos. That is an extra hour's worth of show, especially if peoples' worries that the midcard is going to get pushed down from prioritizing all the top stars onto the show comes to pass.

Its really amazing how WWE can't follow through on their ideas.
Oh brand split! Lets go crazy with it! Different graphics, different PPVs, all that.
Year and a half later. Everyone is on the same PPVs and the shows look exactly the same. Cool. Cool.

So they're keeping the gimmick match centered shows, where they build to gimmick matches in a completely inorganic way instead of allowing feuds to unfold in such a way that it becomes logical and/or inevitable that a certain match could only be settled in a cage/ladder/cell/street fight match, all in the service of providing "moments" instead of telling stories where the gimmick match fits narratively and serves a purpose fans would be more likely to pay to see.

You think maybe the over-emphasis on manufactured and sterile "moments" the fans aren't as invested in, along with the narrative cheapening of special event shows as just something to do because why not, might be responsible for why these shows aren't ringing successes like the company expects them to be? Nah couldn't be.
