Example: I'll use I thought about the other night.
Black Panther (1972) -- T'Challa (Yaphet Kotto) is the King of Wakanda and travels to New York for a UN meeting. On his way there he is intercepted and abducted by henchmen and taken to the hidden lair of a Black Panther Party esqe group lead by his long-time adversary and exiled-Wakandan Erik Killmonger (Richard Roundtree), he recruits T'Challa to help take down a White Nationalist drug front that has been using drugs as a method to exterminate African-Americans and the money to racist causes, lead by a character created for the film (Rip Torn), who uses arms dealer Ulysses Klau (Robert Shaw) as a business contact and mercenary killer. As The Black Panther, T'Challa reluctantly teams with Killmonger to take down the drug lords. Directed by Melvin Van Peebles and distributed by American International Pictures.

Really want a TV series or movie with Batman actually set in 1939/1940's.

The Punisher being a WW1 Vet that goes after the Mob during the Roaring 20's would be cool.
Ironman in a future where his suit is more low tech than even your standard "low ranking solider's military suit" yet he still needs to save the day would be a different stand alone story. If nothing else would be an interesting fish-out-of-water set up

Batman in Victorian London with Dracula running around muddling things up and creating mass hysteria and panic could be fun for a one off.

Instead of Superman crashing to earth and found as a baby by salt-of-the-earth farmers in shithole Kansas... it's: Superman crashes to earth and is found and raised by Bigfoot in the year 2000.
He's super stealthy, harasses drunk hillbillies in the wee hours of the night and lives on Mars. Superman would have learned all the anti-camera and multi-dimensional-transport magic from his Bigfoot foster parents. And he'd be a sick dancer.

Plus, he's had some great designs in stories that put him back then. ![](https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YCy-jre2ypY/V2ld9xOS5JI/AAAAAAAAIsI/UTdXojUzE3o93T1k2Nld_aGh5I0hC9OQQCLcB/s1600/batmanbravebold_ep15a.jpg) I think this is fanart, maybe, but also pretty nifty. ![](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b9/ca/62/b9ca620a932061e74d31e248b1896e73.jpg)

Really want a TV series or movie with Batman actually set in 1939/1940's. Well, you're in luck because they made two Batman film serials in the 1940s, set in the then-present day.

Spider-Man living in early 1800s during the Industrial Revolution. See how Pete adapts with the technology of that time.

While true, not entirely what I was thinking. More along the lines of transplanting the Batman mythos as it's been built up into that time period.

I've got a book about writing and playing table-top role playing games, and one of the essays in it is about putting super-hero campaigns in non-modern settings. One great idea was the Justice League in ancient Greece.

Captain America helps the Allies defeat the Axis during World War II and presumes it will represent a new era of peace across the world, but he's dismayed when the Cold War breaks out. He sees America toppling foreign governments and putting sympathetic dictatorships in their place simply for their opposition to Communism. He feels disillusioned with his role being a symbol of America when he feels that much of what America is doing internationally is unjustified. He's further dismayed by segregation domestically and decides to take a stand and joins the civil rights movement. Much of white America turns against him, accusing him of being a Communist sympathiser. He is classed as a subversive when he physically defends civil rights protesters from the police, racist groups, attack dogs and water-hoses when they are campaigning for equal rights and J. Edgar Hoover starts a COINTELPRO war against him. His opinion hardens further when America gets involved in Vietnam. He's recalled into military service but refuses to serve, saying the war is unjust. He's sentenced to 10 years in prison and willingly goes. His imprisonment leads to a mass movement campaigning for his release. Eventually he's offered parole but refuses to take it on principle. Eventually he's released and by then the Watergate scandal is in full swing. He decides he can no longer be Captain America and takes on the new persona of "The Unknown Soldier", and leaves America.

Ok, I'm not sure if this is an adaptation or original premise, but if its the latter...holy shit that sounds amazing.

After the success of the Batman television series, its producers follow it up with a show based on the Man of Steel... SUPERMAN '66!Starring: Lyle Waggoner as Superman![](https://i.imgur.com/ZVlEq6o.jpg) He would go on of course to star in the Wonder Woman TV series, but he initially tested for the role of Batman. I actually got the idea for this from watching his screen test. I thought he had a good Silver Age Superman type of look. Telly Savalas as Lex Luthor![](https://i.imgur.com/DqwWDOA.jpg) Pretty much the basis for the DCAU Luthor. But since this is the sixties, this Lex would be a full-on criminal genius rather than a crooked businessman. Yul Brynner as Brainiac![](https://i.imgur.com/qN7nCmH.jpg) He would've made a good Lex, too, but I thought his stoic persona best suited the cold, robotic Brainiac. Jerry Lewis as Toyman Michael Dunn (Loveless on TV's Wild Wild West) as Mr. Mxyzptlk Ted Cassidy (Lurch on Addams Family) as Solomon Grundy![](https://i.imgur.com/cdSYvJw.jpg) No idea who could play General Zod, but for the rest of the Phantom Zone villains... Patricia Laffan (Devil Girl from Mars) as Ursa Richard Kiel as Non
![](https://i.imgur.com/IIgGqfH.jpg) I'd get Metallo and the Parasite here too, but I can't think of any actors for them either. Bizarro would be an anonymous actor in make-up credited as "?" like False Face on the Batman show.
