I want to see them do a bit where the first episode of the season is Lance Catamaran announcing that he's leaving to become a real news anchorman with a station in Utica that he sees as his first step to becoming the next Tom Brokaw or Dan Rather. Everybody at Southpaw offers him sincere farewells and good lucks in hopes he finds his dreams and Lance says that while he's moving onto bigger things, he'll never forget his time and friends at Southpaw and he is proud to say he was a pro wrestling commentator.
Then the final episode of the season is him returning to Southpaw, bitter and broken, realizing that his dream will never come true and that he's now stuck as an announcer in a crappy wrestling territory and hating it with every fiber of his being.

As do the Butchers. So. much. innuendo. Daniel Bryan's dueling USA/France characters were pretty fun too, but Nattie as Debbie Desperado was a one note joke that took too long to get to, Miz as Adam Dueng was completely redundant with John Johnson already there, and Dolph Ziggler as the rockstar was about as low effort as you could get for Southpaw. Awww don't be a Debbie Downer now

The second season really wasn't very good. I don't really need a third. If anything, they should start new with a different territory. So instead of Southpaw Regional Wrestling we'll get Georgia SuperSouth SuperWrestling SuperShow.
Edit: As for characters, I want to see Jerry Lawler as "Memphisto the Demonic Griller" who makes Memphis-style bbq. He throws dry rub in his opponents' eyes instead of salt or powder or whatever.

First season was great and came across very naturally for being satire... Second season had its moments (SUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!), but it wasn't as good as the first season....it seemed like they were trying too hard. Let it rest WWE, and thanks for the memories You're absolutely right brother. The Hangover 1 was epic, Hangover 2 was meh, Hangover 3 wasn't necessary.

I never watched season 2. I liked the first go round, but was just completely apathetic regarding season 2.

Season 2 had a few moments but mostly felt like the roster members and production crew who werent involved in season 1 felt jealous and wanted in on the other guys' cool thing without really having the chemistry or ideas to make it work. It felt very bandwagon-hopping.

Hated the first two episodes I watched and have refused to watch any further. I really don't see how these are funny. At all.

I'm with those that say the first shoulda been it. It was just this perfect, weird little thing where a few guys were screwing around. Once it became a 'thing' it wasn't as funny.

Maybe they could do an ersatz GLOW rival thing in the vein of Southpaw featuring the women superstars. HISTORIC

Unless they actually try to do a Southpaw show in a mocked up Full Sail or something, I donât think we need a third season of SRW, though I would certainly watch them regardless. I dont know if that would work. They'd have to hand out 80s-style clothes to the entire audience, and there's always the risk they may just use their typical Fight Forever/This Is Awesome type chants (I suppose you could just have the audience consist of well-disguised road agents, trainers, writers, and developmental guys though).

It'd be doable in a studio setting with a few dozen people in disguise. If it's set in the early 1980s (either just as Vince starts climbing or just before), you can pull in bellbottoms, wide collars and those cheesy iron-on letter T-shirts alongside the emerging 1980s looks. Of course, though, I'm probably overthinking things at this point. I don't it's necessarily a bad thing to cycle through the roster with each "season" or "discovery" of Southpaw; promotions often did cycle through talent as they entered and left the territory. Southpaw is primarily about the in-ring talent taking the piss out of themselves and having a bit of fun hamming it up in another guise; seen in that context, I think it's hilarious and endearing.

Didn't Jericho trash the second season in an interview? Jericho via Ring Rust Radio: "I would love to see a few more but I donât know if the series took off virally like they thought it would and I am not sure what the numbers are on that but it was a lot of fun while we did it and hopefully get to do more. I think a lot of times the initial one is always the best because itâs such a surprise and nobody really knows what theyâre getting into. Where with the second one everybody wanted to get involved and some of the characters werenât as strong. I think Mizâs guy was terrible in it whatever he was called. I just thought it was terrible and it wasnât funny. I thought the Butcher Boys werenât funny. The first one was really funny because no one was really trying. They were just being whatever they wanted to be. Itâs like a sequel to a movie where you stumble onto something and itâs never as good as the original. If they do more Clint Bobski will be there and if they donât it was fun while it lasted."

I was just thinking about Southpaw and a season 3 before I saw this topic. I think if the wrestlers like it, are entertained by it, it makes them happy, and want to do a season 3, let it happen. Itâs their creation, they can add as many people as they want and do whatever, Iâm sure itâll be hilarious.

It felt like everyone was trying harder to make it a thing in the second season and it came off forced.

No thank you on Season 3.
Season 1 was amazing. Season 2 made me laugh I think twice.
Unless you scale back to the core people that were in Season 1, let it rest. The only person I'd have you keep from Season 2 is Susan, Renee did an amazing job.

Hated the first two episodes I watched and have refused to watch any further. I really don't see how these are funny. At all. Because it's a tongue in cheek take on 80s local access territory pro wrestling that manages to simultaneously nail the tone of the era while also taking things into the realm of the absurd, while allowing the performers to improvise and have some fun. Second season was definitely weaker, but the first was just a lot of fun. You don't have to like it, but it's fairly easy to see "how" they're funny to others, I'd think.

Boo at the Season Two negativity! It wasnât as good as the first, sure, but I laughed hard a good few times so itâs a winner in my book. Also, more entertaining than most of Summerslam easily.
But yes, they clearly had no real idea how to promote it on TV which seemed weird because all they had to do was go âHey, we found this old wrestling tape so we put it on our YouTube, check it out!â Like...thatâs not a hard thing to do and to keep in kayfabe somewhat. You donât need to drag people out to confused looks or whatever.
I still want to see more because it allows the talent to showcase their ability to do stuff outside of scripts and such. It made me fall in love fully with Rusev for a start. Also, someone less talked about, made me realise Jason Jordan can be hella charismatic when the right setting is there. I appreciate that more, itâs why I love Mixed Match Challenge, UpUpDownDown and the Game Night stuff. I know itâs not making them look larger than life but screw it, Chris Evans can still be a goofball even though he plays Captain America so it works.
I love the idea of it being on the same night as the first WrestleMania, them trying to get low key 80s celebrities who cancel for elabourate reasons.
