If Asuka defeats Charlotte ( or Ruby Riot but let’s be real here) for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania only to have her undefeated streak ended by Carmella?

That is what I'm expecting and I think it is the smart thing to do. Get rid of the streak which I think hurts Asuka's booking, gives the SDL women something big, and gets Carmella some major heel heat.

Yeah, this is what I'm hoping for too. Like I've been saying since NXT, ending Asuka's streak shouldn't be a case of Ricky Steamboat beating Randy Savage, it should be a case of The Honky Tonk Man beating Ricky Steamboat.

If Carmella got some good booking & was over, I guess it wouldn’t be too bad. They have one chance to give Asuka her first loss & getting some heat on Carmella doesn’t seem like the best way to use the moment. They have tried every which way to get her over. Put her over Nikki Bella, gave her Ellsworth, gave her MITB. She really seems like a midcard performer carrying a briefcase.

I wouldn't mind it. Gives Carmella some much needed heat.

Fine with it, since you now have a chance for Carmella to run with the whole "I beat the unbeaten Asuka" thing, despite the fact that she did it in the most chickenshit heel manner possible. It's virtually foolproof.

I’d point out how Asuka’s two losses in her entire run would have been to Carmella.

I'd think it's a waste of a streak. We saw how well it worked when Kevin Nash beat Goldberg that way. It's a sure fire way to cool off everyone involved.
Another example that came to mind was when Bayley broke Charlotte's streak after Sasha interfered. These sort of things never work. Instead of getting a cool/satisfying moment, you're robbed of that for absolutely no comparative benefit.

Pleeeease no. I just want one thing to actually have a happy, satisfying ending instead of being wasted on a swerve that's remembered for all of 5 minutes.

Fine by me. I hate most streak stories anyway cause writers can get backed into a corner and end up having an awful solution, and it can make others in the division look weak, which is even more amplified in a smaller women's division.
Break it now before it goes crazy, I say, even if I like Asuka. The Carmella character can have a lot of fun being the one to beat Asuka, too.

"We had Asuka go undefeated forever and had her drop the NXT title so she could move up without a care all so he could lose her streak to Carmella in a way that doesn't really do anyone any favours" sounds like a real waste of time so. Yeah it'll probably happen.

Put her over Nikki Bella, gave her Ellsworth, gave her MITB. She really seems like a midcard performer carrying a briefcase. She was over as a heel during the Ellsworth/MITB era. I'd say she was the top heel for a short while on SDL. Once they took Ellsworth away it exposed her as not being ready/able to carry momentum on her own. They had their window of opportunity with her and missed it, and anything they do now will feel like a letdown. Only way I'd accept this is if she nailed Asuka with the briefcase a couple times before cashing in, and then get the "tainted" victory. And this would salvage Asuka as still being a badass if indeed they want to go with Asuka vs. Rousey down the line. (Although for my money Asuka vs. Baszler sounds much more interesting)
