They did give Goldberg's theme to Pat Tanaka first though. Still doesn't discount how great the song was. Not at all but it does tie into WCW's theme recycling.

The WWF used that music as the background music for their hotline, at the same time Luger was using it in WCW. On that note, Luger's first WCW theme was all kinds of awesome: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceIqLm99r0E

What kind of indy geek gimmick was this for Art Barr?! Looks like the fashion inspiration for the Young Bucks a bit though.

I'm pretty sure Vader and Mean Mark essentially split a single song between the two of them for a bit in WCW. www.youtube.com/watch?v=y41MM76dUA0 18 seconds to 1:18 was Vader, and onwards was Mean Mark.

Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but it seemed like the WCW themes were always mic'd third behind the announcers and the crowd noise to where you could barely even hear it. I thought WWF did a way better job of mixing all the sounds to where the themes stood out way more (with no comment on relative quality).

I loooooveeeee a lot of that mid-90s/late 90s WCW knock-off music. DDP and Raven's Nirvana soundalikes (I think Raven's has enough uniqueness about it, though) are some of my favorites, and I felt like they were fitting themes for those guys. Jericho's later WCW theme, the Pearl Jam knock-off, was also really good. I'm not sure if Juvi's is based off anything, but his was perfect for him, too.
Very few people bring up Lex Luger's awesome pumped up theme. Glad it got posted here.
Really didn't like that crappy mash-up of "Cowboy" they gave to Jarrett, though.

How can you forget D-X failure of a theme. Are you talking about "Break it Down"? Always thought that was one of the best themes from that era. Yeah, this is the first time I've heard someone NOT liking that song

Juventud's always reminded me of Vega's theme from Street Fighter.

Raven's original theme in WCW was great, I think Vampiro and other dark characters used it. Short But Thick - youtu.be/bxkiRYV0Tzk

To be fair, the WWF wasn't exactly not guilty of that as well. Real American was a recycled theme. Kurt Angle's was, too. Steve Blackman first theme was recycled from the first Bad Blood PPV theme. At one time Marc Mero in the WWE and The Renegade in WCW used the same theme.

Im 30 now, as a kid in the 90s I didn't pay much attention to the wcw themes while watching them. But it irritated me on games such as wcw nwo revenge that the themes were generic. I always assumed it was for the game. Now im older and watching a lot of stuff I've aince forgotten and the themes are bad. 98 Thunder is what I am trying to binge and they are bad. Also, what did Jericho use since his wwe theme is dubbed

It's likely dubbed over now due to its resemblance to "Evenflow" by Pearl Jam.
