I defend Eric Bischoff a lot, but the music in WCW was just awful. Sure a handful of guys had decent music, but a boatload of the themes were not only practically useless, they were also reused at such a common rate that the fans had no idea who was coming out until they walked out of the curtain.
This is one aspect that improved drastically with Russo. Sure it was not WWE level, but at least 4 guys weren't all using a Pearl Jam knockoff

This is something that always bugs me when I watch mid 90s wcw. A good, memorable theme is something that really helps a wrestler's character. The top tier guys had recognisable themes and a handful of mid card talent, but yeah the vast majority had stuff that seemed like it was thrown together on the day.

I don't think Bischoff is to blame for WCWs themes.
Besides,they're awesome.
Four Horsemen, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, Alex Wright, Wrath and Mortis, Mongo McMichael, Lex Luger, Sting, all had fantastic themes.

In late '90 WCW themes as well as the entrances were Hollywood grade compared to what WWE was doing at the time. What WWE themes did better than WCW at that time are cue effects such as glass shatter, guitar riff, etc that help identify the wrestler. Besides glass shatter Austin's theme is uber generic. Wrestlers that debuted for WWE in late '90s didn't have good themes. How can you forget D-X failure of a theme. As a matter of fact the best theme WWE had in late '90s was Patriots theme that later on became Kurt Angles theme.

How can you forget D-X failure of a theme. Are you talking about "Break it Down"? Always thought that was one of the best themes from that era.

I loved some of WCW's Generic Production themes.
Psicosis' "Get Beck" and Jerry Flynn's "Stamina" were great.

You always knew a dude had no future in WCW if they were using the Hollywood Blonds' theme.

WCW may have had bad generic themes, but they also had Sting's Crow Theme, Goldberg's Theme, and the Horsemen theme, which puts them over the top.
