So, some reasonable pessimism from a Red Sox fan in terms of what could happen next year. Their regular season win total won't be 108 next year. It pretty much has to go down, likely by 10 or more. That's not to say they won't be good, they could still very well contend again next season. But I won't hold my breath for a repeat, because nobody repeats in baseball anymore. So I'm hoping that we win the division again, or otherwise last longer in the postseason than the Yankees, or even eliminate them again. That would be enough to call next season a rousing success.

On the bright side, the Sox postseason was relatively short for winning the championship. But there is usually regression after a long postseason and most teams start off slow. Although, they will certainly be contenders.

I don't know how the coverage has been over there but, in Puerto Rico, pretty much all the media has been covering the Red Sox's title win and treating it as a big deal since Alex Cora is now the first Puerto Rican-born manager to win the World Series. Shows of support, praise and overall congratulations for the feat have been going on all day and Cora is expected to arrive to Puerto Rico on Wednesday to parade the World Series championship along some of the Red Sox players. Chris Sale, Nathan Eovaldi, David Price and Rick Porcello have been announced so far but I wouldn't doubt that others might join them eventually.

I completely blame Roberts on this one. He brings in a pitcher that has allowed all inherited baserunners to score in Madson. Then he brings in his closer, who blew a 6 out save in the 8th inning the game prior, to...wait for it...try and get a 6 out save, only to blow it in the 8th. Meanwhile he leaves his good relievers like Baez and Urias in the pen during these high pressure situations. It’s these stupid decisions that cost them games 2 and 4, and a possible comeback in game 1. I’d be surprised is he’s back next season. Has a team ever axed a manager that took them to back to back championship chances in any sport? New Jersey Nets fired Byron Scott after consecutive finals appearances.

So during the rolling rally Alex Cora got hit with a Bud Lught, Mookie Betts almost took a Bud Light off the face. Rick Porcello caught and chugged a Bud Light.
Oh and someone broke the World Series trophy by throwing a Bud Light at it.

Willie McCovey has passed away at 80.
It's time to get Barry back in the park for BP, to knock a few more into the Cove.

The best World Series are between a Goliath and a David. Two Goliaths just really don't work for sports fans.

The Dodgers were David, only because the Red Sox had steamrolled everybody to that World Series. But, I guarantee you had the World Series been Yankees vs Dodgers, it would had done huge ratings. The biggest AL vs NL rivalry renewed in the World Series.

Dodgers were Goliath and the Red Sox were Goliath's older, bigger brother Steve.

They no doubt had the most talented team in the NL and were pegged as WS favorites

The best World Series are between a Goliath and a David. Two Goliaths just really don't work for sports fans. I don't agree with that assessment. That hasn't been the case at all for the NBA with Cavs/Warriors constantly setting new records, and the Bama/Georgia national title game broke a lot of ratings records. This series just wasn't really intriguing. And baseball is losing momentum, but I think that is less relevant here. It's just really hard for casual fans to root for either team, it was a rather one-sided series, Sox were kinda a wire-to-wire best team.

Yeah, the best World Series are the ones where there’s a clear underdog going against goliath.

What sells World Series aren't David vs. Goliath or Goliath vs. Goliath, or David vs. David. What sells them outside of their home markets is a competitive series. Boston just curb-stomped LA except for a draining-for-everyone Game 3.
People who aren't invested in either team want an exciting winner-takes-all Game 7.
