They’re going all out for this thing. Both Kurt Angle and Y2J competing? I’m sold, WWE.

They are proper going for this but it's disappointing that, in the context of where the company is at right now with the Women's division frankly the best it has ever been and the whole Women's Revolution, they're heading for a country which treats their entire female population in such a repulsive way.
Money talks.

I guarantee that WWE got a offer that they couldn’t refuse. Like something where any of us would take it.

Maybe this show is paying for the XFL reboot, heh.

Will this Rumble count towards the stats of the normal Royal Rumble matches?
That card is really stacked already

I guarantee that WWE got a offer that they couldn’t refuse. Like something where any of us would take it. The WWE dropped already planned house shows to put on this insanely stacked show in Saudi Arabia and put it on the Network. If we ever find out the exact payout it’s going to blow all of our minds. Saudi royal family has more money than god and they wanted their very own Royal Rumble and weren’t going to be denied.

It's a ten year agreement, so not only will it almost certainly become a regular thing, but WWE have almost certainly made out like bandits.

I'd rather see Elias in that IC Title match than Joe. Wonder what sort of women's matches they'll get? Judging by their antiquated and archaic religious and social policies, none. I figured that was likely to be the case, but Mohammed Bin Salman has been making moves to modernise, including relaxing restrictions on women, so I was curious to see whether that progress was enough to give the WWE any leeway. I guess it's too soon for that (and/or it doesn't benefit the Saudi regime enough to allow it).

I will say, as a Saudi, this recurring criticism of WWE for coming here is... a little odd. They've already been here twice. No one cared. What's different now except that the show is a little more high profile?
The country is changing. From what I've read on Reddit, women will be allowed to attend this show. A female fan posted this excitedly when it was announced. I've not verified it myself. Women will be allowed to drive in two months. So... again, the criticism popping up now and not in 2014 or 2015 is weird. We can talk about the pace of change and the sincerity of it. But it does seem to be happening.
I won't defend my country. I don't agree with a lot of its decisions. I don't actually care to defend them. My issue is that a lot of the backlash has an undercurrent, whether intended or not, of: 'all Saudis are backwards and awful and they don't deserve this; not a big event like this' and I deeply disagree with that. It makes me deeply uncomfortable because you're talking about me and people who could be my friends.
I don't have a lot of other options for seeing my favorite wrestlers and I'm really glad they're coming here.

Wwe should do an all female show to make up for it Yea this is one of those things where you are going to have to really reassure the women on how you are going to treat them because i'm sure they understand but still they are left out in the cold An All female show or PPV can be done based upon all the talent they have

Can we talk about how objectively terrible the name is?
Do you think if they pay a little more money next year they'll get The Best-est Wrestlemania?

Is there enough interest there in general to sell-out the stadium?

Is there enough interest there in general to sell-out the stadium? WWE has a huge presence here. Tough to say, and the fact that they delayed tickets sales is an iffy sign, but... it's possible. We don't get a lot of events like this at all so that'd help. Ultimately though, I doubt it's a complete sellout. That's a 50 thousand seat stadium.

Since that was for a football (soccer) match I would expect WWE would hope to break that with the extra floor space on the field. I doubt there will be a huge 'Mania-like stage making a huge part of the stadium's seating unavailable, so there's a chance.

Thanks for the reply; I’ve just been looking at information on the stadium and was thinking it was a tall order to fill something that size even with such a stacked card, but I know nothing about Saudi Arabia so I appreciate your insight. Good point on the stage and the set-up compared to a football match - as we know, WWE wouldn’t hate it if they managed to get themselves a record attendance.
