I know a guy from college that I'm pretty sure is part of this and he is every bit as insufferable as you would expect... Mostly of the whole sneering contempt for anyone raising children and going to the point of posting on the wall of one of my friends who finally had a child after years of fertility treatment, to tell her how good it was that a lab storing embryos had a malfunction that ruined something like 1,000 donated eggs.

He sounds like a lovely piece of work....

And thus so many bad science fiction plots were born.

There's a serious conversation to be had about the future of population growth and what this planet can handle from us, given the multitude of crises the Earth currently faces due to the demands humanity has placed on it.
This...is not it.

why do I havea feeling that this is filled with a bunch of people angry that they can't get laid. or the people that sneer that only the stupid people are breeding... or both. basically this right here...

It's funny that they're so focused on natural order but the desire/need to breed is one of the most basic and deeply ingrained motivations of every single living species on the planet.
By funny, I mean they're dumb. Real dumb.

"Waah, I'm rich, white and depressed so everybody has to die waaaah"
Note how there are very few non-white people are in their ranks.

Considering the lot of ideologies and mentalities these days, this seems tame.
I did have a friend who kinda subscribed to this, but he was rather lonely and had his own issues.

I'm currently taking an Environmental Policy course for my current masters program, and this topic actually did come up this past week; not the voluntary extinction part, but the part about policies that seek to limit population growth.
It's not terribly surprising to see what the data bears out: that population growth is best checked by anti-poverty programs and by empowering/educating young women. Lack of things like proper sex ed is only a small part of that equation; rather you see more sustainable practices among people who are not reliant on having many children for labor purposes, who have access to the necessary medical treatment and resources to nurture a smaller family and not have to presume a high probability of mortality among their children, and among women who have the ability to build a life, career and/or calling for themselves outside of marrying/reproducing young.

They come off as a super-lame wannabee villain group from some anime.

They have a relevant point to make, amongst the insanity. But christ on a bike, there's a lot of crazy there.

Probably be doing the human race a favor by taking themselves out of the gene pool.

I have the opposite goal, of building a new human species in space who are genetically superior and beautiful
I got the idea from Moonraker.
