So the 80's we had some good all female musical groups, weather bands or vocal groups. Such as the Go Go's, Bannarama, The Bangles, Klymaxx, etc.
So what your favorite or thought were the best. I thought the Go Go's first album Beauty and The Beat is freaking awesome. He marrages the quickness of punk rock and the catchiness of new wave. They are great.
An under the radar group if you are not into R&B Klymaxx. They had some good songs.
Though if I can not think with my head and just on my heart and unbridely love for anything Prince. Vanity 6 they couldn't really sing or preform, but you tell me "He's So Dull" is not a great song. And I have heard some demos of their unreleased 2nd album, if that album happened, it could have been a break though. But all and all, like the Time, like Shelia E. they were just musical messengers of Prince.

L7 is still one of my top five favorite bands.

The Bangles would be my choice. They had a great look, could play well and had some tremendous songs.
Honourable mention to Fuzzbox. (Or We’ve Got a Fuzzbox and We’re Gonna Use It). They weren’t the best band but Pink Sunshine is one hell of an ear worm. And the lead singer was responsible for many teenage Brits feeling “all funny down there”.
And as I have to mention every time Bananarama are brought up, Keren is still looking amazing (Andrew Ridgeley is one lucky man).

The Go-Go's get my vote. Their singles are memorable and catchy (love them all) but This Town is my favorite song they've done. Plus they have roots in punk, giving them this hint of an edge other groups, like The Bangles, didn't have. Also: Jane Wiedlin.

I saw them on their farewell tour and she looked good. Sounded good, too. They all did, really.

That has to count for something.

She was also the singing telegraph girl in Clue. But yeah the answer here is the Go Go's. Bangles are a distant second.

Wilson Phillips. I'm a sucker for their close harmonies.

The Bangles by a long shot. Great music and songwriting talent. They put out some of the best singles of the 80's.

I love the GoGos, but I am gonna go with The Bangles, if only because a lot of people already picked the GoGos. That, and as much as it's an obvious choice, the eyes shot in "Walk Like An Egyptian" still gets me every time.

Just the Korn/Kitty (Yeah, that was a phase) version of it, which is so different language warning

Heart, because Ann and Nancy Wilson are almost second to none in rock, and although not technically a girl band, they have been the most high profile and defining members, and my favourite songs from them were all released in the 1980's.

I'd like to throw in a vote for the largely forgotten group, Strawberry Switchblade. They were a a Scottish duo who collapsed after their first mainstream success because of Jill Bryson's agoraphobia, she even wrote a song about the battle, Trees and Flowers.
