Good.
Chris Brown should be on that list as well if they're being serious about it.
(I'm assuming he shows up on spotify)

I'm glad they aren't removing the music outright.
Whilst they may be scum in real life.. A good tune is still a good tune.
I think Spotify have this right.
My guess is the likes of Lostprophets and Gary Glitter will all fall under this.
Edit: Nevermind.. Just did a search and neither are on there anymore.

slight confusion. they say they are removing music that has "hate content", but are targeting songs with people because of their actions, not songs with actual hate content. why not just say they are removing people for being d-bags?

I do have my concerns over where this type of thing can potentially lead to. As it stands right now, If Spotify doesn't wish to promote R. Kelly and other questionable artists anymore, I cannot fault them for that. It only becomes an issue for me when we get to the level of full blown censorship of an artists work.

This is such a dangerous precedent. f*** R.Kelly but art shouldn’t be censored. Give the consumer the right to make their own decision on who they want to listen too. But when this big tech firm de playlist a artist for saying something negative about the Police or Trump and gets removed for “hate speech” we won’t like it then. Stop censorship at all costs now before it becomes a problem for artists we like. This isn’t about the playlist as that is Spotify right but algorithms are based on what people want to listen to.

First off, this isn't censorship you can listen to him otherwise, one service deciding they don't want to promote a scumbag like R. Kelly doesn't make him disappear. Secondly, They aren't removing him totally. If you want to listen to R. Kelly on Spotify you can. They aren't promoting him, so if you want to find stuff from R. Kelly just go make an R. kelly playlist yourself. They are only removing him from playlists owned and operated by Spotify, which is their right as a company. .

I said at the end of the paragraph that their editoral playlist is their right. I’m talking about the listening algorithms such as discover weekly. That playlist is literally based on what you listen to. If I listen to R.Kelly or artist like R.Kelly then that shouldn’t be taken out my algorithm. Also this isn’t about R.Kelly. While I most definitely think he’s a sexual predator...he was never convicted of anything. What is to stop Spotify from doing this to any artist accused of anything but they didn’t go to prison? This could get to the point where Spotify can deem any artist hate content. Michael Jackson was never convicted but he was accused. Does his music get taken down? John Lennon admitted to hitting his ex wife. Does his music get taken down from playlist? You see where I’m going with this? Literally all they had to do was make a artist block button where the consumer could make the choice on which artist they do not want to listen to.

I don't follow musician news etc, I just listen to what I like. Maybe I'm the minority nowadays. NBD.

I have no problem with Spotify's action itself, as it deals solely with the promotion of the artists and their music and does not actually pull their music from the site.
I do, however, take issue with Spotify's decision to start with two Black artists, one of whom was equally acquitted of the only crime to which he's ever been charged. I also take issue with the first response in this thread mentioning a hope for Spotify to follow suit by pulling yet another Black artist.
Finally, if I never hear or read another person use the term, "triggered," it will still be too soon. The word seems to have fallen in line with the likes of, "thug," in that I seem to be able to gain a lot of insight into the user's societal views based on his or her decision to use it.

I didn't know Brandi wrestled well, and I did consider an all women's ppv, but they did that already and had no guys wrestling on it, when... last year was it? I get that my answer wasn't popular, But it wasn't rude or nasty.

I wasn't being rude or nasty. You literally started calling people "triggered". (And btw yes, I'm fairly sure that some of the children who were abused might end up with PTSD triggers.) And you're allowed your opinion but equally we're allowed to say it's not only tone deaf but flat out abhorrent.

1. Stop the sniping at each other now. Take that elsewhere.
2. They are a private company and do as they please. Don't like it, don't use their product. Vote with your dollars and quit calling people out with having feelings that you do/don't.
