Did anyone else like Johnny Polo as a color commentator (mostly for All American and Coliseum tapes)? While you were definitely not going to get any serious analysis from it, he seemed to be having fun, and it definitely showed levy's charisma.

I think he would be a good commentator now, kinda like a Booker T who doesn't say nonsensical things that are funny but things that make sense in context that is funny

It's always fun listening to matches he and Gorilla Monsoon call together. It's actually entertaining how little chemistry those two had together.

He said he loved doing it and that Gorilla was a very sweet man. Apparently he was either helping out with the writing or was going to eventually start helping out there (can't remember exactly) but screwed himself out of a really cushy job because of partying with Shane McMahon and pissing off Vince. Imagine a world where Scotty stuck around as part of creative and never became Raven.

There would be a Vince from another timeline show up on Raw wearing tattered clothes and covered in facial begging this other Vince to fire Raven.

I remember that stupid Bloodbath Cage Matches DVD the WWE put out in the early 2000’s had a match that featured him on commentary. Might have been Shawn versus Diesel? I watched the crap out of it because I thought he was hilarious.

He had started appearing in talking head stuff but then he attached himself to the Bagwell lawsuit.

He’s done it a few times, he must have a lawyer friend or some connection doing it for cheap for him because he’s been a part of 2 or 3 lawsuits that have a low chance of success but a chance for big ramifications if he wins or even goes to trial

In fall of 2016 he appeared on the roundtable discussion with Foley and RVD for the hardcore division Blu-ray which surprised me cause I believe that was after him being involved in that lawsuit and if they were mad at him he could have been easily replaced or just had foley and Mr. Van Dam.

idea why a guy as smart as him thought that would be a good idea. Because he makes better money from conventions, indies and shoots at this stage of his career than he would from Wwe's legends deals even if he were in Vince's good graces. He had nothing to lose by rolling the dice over royalties.

People on legends deals still have all that outside work as well as an occasional call from Vince. I'd have thought it'd make more sense to do that than join a suit that frankly, won't work.

All I remember about Polo on commentary (which was very decent as I recall) was that when he'd work with Vince he'd call him "Vic."

The potential payoff for winning the suit was considerably larger than anything he would get from the WWE deal, it would have meant royalties from the network. There was merit to the case, the WWE know that, which is why their rehab offer and legends contracts are conditional on talent signing away their rights to royalties from future technology or to sue, it's what got the Rene Dupree royalties suit dismissed.

All I honestly remember is him hosting All-American Wrestling and calling Monsoon "Uncle Gorilla"

There was merit to the case, the WWE know that, which is why their rehab offer and legends contracts are conditional on talent signing away their rights to royalties from future technology or to sue, it's what got the Rene Dupree royalties suit dismissed. WWE changed the language in all their contracts beginning in 2004, specifically saying no royalties will be paid for cable on demand or online streaming (likely due to the launch of WWE 24/7, which debuted in Nov. '04). Raven and Bagwell's side actually had to change their claims in the lawsuit at one point to exclude wrestlers who signed with WWE after that. The pre-2004 contracts did include language about "technology not yet created" but was listed alongside examples of physical media only. On a side note, Bagwell handed over a royalty statement he got from WWE for a 3-month period in 2016 as part of the lawsuit. His total payment for that quarter was $64.
